Back in the days when two ferries were taken hostage by Chechen Militants and PKK suicide bomber, SAT had to intervene they infiltrated the ferry (from underwater) and neutralized the targets. Equipment like that is required for exactly such missions.
yeah that makes sense

Turkish Gendarmerie was moved to under MoI after the Coup attempt. But that was a political decision. It makes more sende to have it under MoD. You cannot have two military forces being run as they please especially MoI who is a gunghoe guy.

I just thing like, the Jandarma still has military status, some of officer is military background. How could a civillian body have a ~190.000-200.000 forces armed with ATAK, etc? Just to look around European (the Jandarma has so many "brother" in Europe also Jandarma is FIEP) like French, Italian, Portuguese, Netherland etc, it is all under both MoI and MoD. Like MoI sometimes like "so political" if we can see, rather the MoD

(maybe i am not good at turkish) but if we saw some Kanun (I access from Jandarma site regarding their law ) some Kanun is pre 2016 like it is still in effect regarding position of Jandarma (kinda has military regulation or law about their function, feeding, payment, personnel etc it is like a military Law Kanun) BUT now they are under MoI. I dont know are this law is used or not but because it is on Jandarma sitesi I think it is still used by them

Military duties: To perform duties under the command of force commanders with the departments deemed appropriate by the Council of Ministers in cases of mobilization and war, and to perform military duties given upon the request of the Minister, upon the request of the Chief of the General Staff, and with the approval of the governor in the provinces, upon the request of the garrison commander.

so if the time of war, they are will became under military command ?

Also if Jandarma became "paramilitary" (not military) it is likely gradually lost it is status for "Jandarma Kanun Ordusu" and will merged with civilian police just like case of Belgium.
Its under the army in eastern parts
so it Jandarma under Military command if only in operation in some area but in "political or institutional" it is like "army" for MoI/civvy

Heh! It is confusing. Welcome to the club of the equally confused.

In India, we have 1.2 million in the Army, 0.068 million (68,000) in the Navy, 0.14 million (140,000) in the Air Force.

We also have 0.95 million (950,000) para-military forces, or central armed police forces, the equivalent of gendarmerie:
  1. Central Reserve Police Force (315,000)
  2. Central Industrial Security Force (165,000)
  3. Border Security Force (265,000)
  4. Indo-Tibetan Border Police (90,000)
  5. Sasashtra Seema Bal (94,000)
  6. National Security Group (10,000)
  7. Special Protection Group (3,000)
This does not include the Coast Guard.

ALL the seven organisations listed above are civilian, and report to the Ministry of Home Affairs, that is, the equivalent of your Ministry of the Interior.

That is the equivalent of the Turkish Gendarmerie of 200,000 and another 80,000 Village Guards.

Just for your information, to give you a closer look at what other countries are doing.

Just to sure, the India one type is Para-military so actually they are civillian actually but with miliatry training, equipment etc
but in case India in war, are the CAPF will under military command or MoD? (sorry for oot ing with others)
=========

while the Turkish case, they have military status and likely if war happen they are seen legally as combatant or deployed in war zone their status the Jandarma officer is military combatant and treated like that). so more like a "true military forces" under civilian body (Turkiye MoI)

ONLY the border forces (there are several, the largest being the Border Security Forces, but also the Sashastra Seema Bal, and the Indo-Tibetan Border Force) report to the military. There is another unit, the Assam Rifles, that gets officers from the military, recruits direct, and reports to the Home Ministry. All report to the Home Ministry, but come under the operational control of the Army. It is a budget issue.

The other CAPFs, the CRP and the CISF, hardly ever have anything to do with the military.

The Coast Guard is staffed by naval officers who bear a civilian rank while on deputation.

Lifesaving Heroes at Work

Our Doctor NCOs and Medic Specialists, who are under the command of the Gendarmerie General Command, prevent personnel casualties by providing first aid to the injured in incidents that occur in the operation area.

Medic Specialists are performing their duty within the Gendarmerie Commando and Gendarmerie Special Operations JOH teams. We see a classical scenario of Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). Tactical tourniquet is applied to stop extremity bleeding, signs of life are checked, 4 inch "Israeli Bandage" is applied over the open wound, hypothermia is prevented trough thermal blanket, evacuation with a modular stretcher is executed.

Wide range of domestic and foreign high quality products are used for the TCCC.

ForaGroup is a Turkish manufacturer and distributor which is performing very well both on the Turkish market but also on the international scene. Their contribution for medical supplies deliveries to Ukraine is also notable.

Some of the products used.

Kingfisher Medical Xtract®SR Modular Stretcher

1699469508986.png

The Xtract®SR is a rescue litter designed for first responders to quickly move patients from their point of incident to further definitive care. Unlike traditional stretchers, the XtractSR provides a cocoon for the patient so they can be lifted or pulled across challenging environments without compromising patient care or provider safety.

Packed into a backpack measuring only 9″ x 22″, the Xtract SR can be deployed to the patient’s side at the point of wounding.

At the heart of the Xtract SR is a Duralite-fabric cocoon that conforms and adjusts quickly to the variable sizes and shapes of each patient. Once in the XtractSR, patient accessibility is maintained and heat loss is reduced within the natural cocoon body position combined with the optional Element Protection System (EPS). A detachable, and replaceable, ridged sled base with high-density foam padding further protects and comforts the patient during transport. The padded base is replaceable, and is available separately, as are the X-Straps (see options above).

For the first responder, the patient cocooned in the Xtract®SR can be pulled, or lifted, with minimal fatigue and a reduced risk of injury. With the straps engaged in the pulling position, providers utilize the large muscle groups in their legs and shoulders to efficiently move the patient across undefined terrain. In addition to needing fewer responders and freeing up the arms and hands of the provider for stability and secondary functions, the engineered design position of the pull straps promote a more neutral head position for the patient.

  • Lightweight: Weighs less than 7lbs allowing it to be easily carried.
  • Strong: The Duralite fabric has been extensively tested and rated to 600 pounds. The Xtract SR is not rated for vertical rescue.
  • Patient Care: The patient is cocooned within the Xtract SR but accessible to the care provider. The drag position promotes a more neutral head position for the patient.
  • Provider Safety: The patient can be pulled using the large muscle groups to reduce provider fatigue and injury and keep the hands accessible for stability and other tasks.
  • Temperature Management: The Element Protection System (EPS) provides protection from the elements while maintaining body heat and patient access. An optional single-use, inflatable life bed can be quickly inflated under the patient to provide further comfort and maintain core body temperature.
The XtractSR's uses are limited only by your own imagination. Specific to the military, the XtractSR is designed to assist the process of reducing preventable deaths on the battlefield. In an Active Shooter or SWAT Standby situation, extracting patients from hot and warm zones is expedited. Prisons and Correctional Facilities face unique challenges regarding personal safety and patient care, and the Xtract SR provides a solution for quickly dragging injured patients from harm’s way to safe zones. Beach Patrollers know that cot wheels just don’t cut it on the sand. The Xtract SR can be deployed to the point of incident, hypothermia can be treated and the patient can be pulled, and/or carried, with minimal resources. For EMS providers, 6” of snow can be challenging and dangerous. The Xtract SR can be easily pulled through the snow with the patient warmly cocooned inside. Ski Patrollers appreciate that the lightweight and compact Xtract SR can be worn as a backpack, deployed at the patient’s side and pulled to the next transportation point. Wilderness Rescue and SAR units like being prepared to overcome natural obstacles, which is essential to search and rescue operations involving large areas of wilderness and backcountry. The Xtract SR provides a compact and lightweight solution to carrying and/or pulling patients across natural terrain and over long distances.

MCI, sports stadiums, arenas, concert venues, amusement parks, water parks, golf courses, forestry, border patrol, homeland security … the list goes on and the Xtract SR helps deliver patients from the point of incident to definitive care.
