Indian External affairs minister Jaishankar speaks on China's global role

Today, S Jaishankar, the Union's foreign affairs minister, in a conference said that the Quad grouping is the answer to international organizations’ reluctance to reform. Unilateralism's days are past, bilateralism has its limits, and multilateralism is just not functioning well enough, according to him.

Jaishankar elaborated on Indo-China ties by recounting how previous Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi visited China in 1988 to strengthen New Delhi's relationship with Beijing based on the assumption that the border would remain quiet and serene. He goes on to claim that India achieved this through a series of agreements that created trust, including one that specified don't bring your military near the border.
