"The Italian deal follows Indonesia’s signing of an agreement with Japan allowing the transfer of Japanese military equipment and technology to the Indonesian armed forces,. This was followed shortly by the news that Indonesia was gearing up to spend $3.6 billion on the procurement of up to eight of Japan’s new Mogami-class stealth frigates."

China would be upset

Well, maybe we want to repalce parchim class. FREMM and Mogami are ASW role right??? ( 6 FREMM + 8 Mogami = 14 )

According to some sources they originally want to replace Parchim class with our own Made OPV/Patrol Corvettes, but recent event prompt them to put priority toward major combatant warships and put onhold OPV program except for one which would get funding next year.

ASW in 21st century=
Towed Array Sonar /Variable Depth Sonar
+
ASW Helicopter with dipping sonar

Both of them are modular.

In my opinion OPV is more important for several reasons. I would go for Italian deal + OPV + IH/Japanese in order, instead of Italian + Japanese/IH + OPV in order, in priority.

ASW Fremm have 76mm otomelara instead of 127mm on General purpose config. So you need to sacrifice something.

When it comes to an OPV since the technology and means are within our grasp nobody bother about it at least we have 3 certified and proven private shipyard that could churned them in masse should the fund was ever available . Yet , when it come to the big hitter ?? It's not often we get a leeway like these .
Don't bother to count the state owned one ...

Current law had let private shipyard companies to take the role as lead leader for defense project such as the less complicated OPV program, thus now all boil down to political and finance capability to proceed with the project. Current admin already taking big gamble to proceed with big ticket items program right now, the OPV can proceed later as they are less complicated in nature (politically and financial matter)

For less complicated programs, private shipyards are good, for example the LST project. The OPV design from Tesco is pretty good with our standard weapon package - pahe (paket hemat)

I hope the OPV will be assign to private shipyard and PT PAL focus on frigate, furthermore as we already have knowledge to build ship in modular during PKR works, I hope Mindef could coordinate some local shipyard to build modul and appoint one of them as the integration place to speed up the works.

Sleek design, SIGMA Corvette "kearifan lokal" 😁
with CMS mandhala n RCWS Nasional Respati ... optional with ITB radar pasif ):ROFLMAO:

in my opinion, OPV should be Indonesia project, which it has full Indonesia capability ...like radar from LEN, even some says it is not original LEN technology, but it is worth to try , satcom and many more ...🙏
