Usually adding bigger propeller & engines would do the job.
That is not an elongation but a redesign, if PT. PAL is truly doing the redesign on their own without Korean contribution, this is something big.

PT PAL have more or less 5 years to design the ship, enough time to polish the design carefully. Totally unlike the rushed redesigned IH frigate that's recently released.

I don't know the current status but few years ago they were still outsourcing certain major design jobs to a Korean company, despite of holding quite an experience on the construction.

But anyway, i hope it has changed.
