i think midget submarine could work, if it could perform like the fighter submarine carried by blue submarine no. 6 😗
You're clearly thinking what I'm thinking: submersible fighter craft, armed with both supercavitating and regular guided torpedos and rockets. This craft won't have range much further than 200 km, but it will be damn fast and maneuverable underwater. 😋

You can actually put VLS inside 1000 tons submarine.

This is just an example, the design of 1000 tons Amur-class submarine has two variants. The one with only 6 torpedo tubes, and another with 4 torpedo tubes + 10 VLS.

View attachment 32960

Fincantieri S1000 sub is based on this design.
Why you guys are so obsessed with VLS on subs?
Most of the "normal" missiles can be fired via torpedo tube in much simpler way.
The ones to be fired from VLS is totally off-the-league, and never exported.
Yet this is only a mini-submarine.

Even tomahawk can be via torp tube launch

Like dolphin with her lacm, kilo with kalibr, astute tomahawk

Looks cool tho, weapon separation space could provide more space for torpedoes i guess

I dont know how bad is our Changbogos in compare of the original uboat. But my personal opinion better to stick the signed contract between RI and Sokor. And I am quite surprised at their pace in sub program, i they already launch the 3rd hull for the kss iii, soon Sokor could outmatched Nippon in term of quantity.

This is the next problem after we could build indigenous sub or locally build, how could we aquire those lacm, look at the Isaac Peral, has the capability but doesnt have the missile cause they cancelled the tomahawk, the Sokor made their own kvls and Hyunmoo series.

So is the Iver a separate deal than the AH140? I know that some of you said its the same from previous post but the last paragraph from Janes article indicate its a separate deal.

"Subsequently in September 2021, UK defence group Babcock signed a design licence agreement with PT PAL at the DSEI exhibition in London. The agreement provides for the build of two Arrowhead 140 frigates at PT PAL's facilities in Surabaya."

Well, if you follow the previous posts/discussion, that's not the point.

There are people who still think that 1000 tons submarine is just a midget submarine and not a "proper" submarine.

That's the point. 1000 tons submarine is still a "proper" submarine. Not only that it has enough 533mm torpedo tubes, you can actually incorporate VLS in 1000 tons submarine. It shows the size and displacement capacity that is far superior than midget sub.

The point about tube-launched missile is the better option than VLS-launched one, or vice versa, is irrelevant and totally different matter.

I dont understand, why we attract to 850 tons sub meanwhile we lack of real sub.
It still rumour and the navy not decide anything yet. We are discuss about spec and tech each of sub technical advantages, but some student already underlying all should be same as their intepretation of MEF, but IMHO we can do better than MEF, so the discussion may sometime cut short by some term "unproven, or should stick on bla bla.." so I think we still can't create own eviromental discussion, as my self looking for some forum discusstion about ship building

Because proper Submarine base is only in Surabaya after the Palu Submarine base being destroyed during last earthquake. The other pen is in Tegal (but they are being neglected for decades and one in Natuna and in a place in Papua just recently planned. So it is imperative for the Navy to have long endurance Submarine units.

...and submarine rescue vessels.

Is it possible that what our navy currently looking is some kind of smallish submarine for rescue purpose?
