Indonesian Navy Begins Study of Aircraft Carrier Needs for Operations Other Than War
The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is currently studying the need for an aircraft carrier for military operations other than war (OMSP).
The Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali said that this study was conducted in order to build the strength of the TNI AL in the future.
"The aircraft carrier is still under study, but it looks like we need an aircraft carrier for OMSP purposes in particular," Ali told reporters at the TNI AL Headquarters, Thursday (6/2/2025).
In addition, two Red and White frigates are being built domestically, and two light frigates from Lampung have been launched.
The TNI AL has also received several fast missile boats (KCR) from Turkey.
Ali said that there is a possibility of additional frigates from several countries in the future.
