I think BSF needs such system more then any other force in India

I agree....but its not bad idea to start with Navy as they have the most diverse of environment settings to test this specific system and then disseminate how its going to rest of services etc...and then I guess go for economy of scale w.r.t this kind of thing with Israeli cooperation.

Looks like this is for the Marcos since they're the ones using AK-103s...but that is such a basic rifle, no better than those AKs owned by terrorists. Should've gone for a better rifle in the first place instead of enhancing AKs

Despite Navy having the most diverse environments, they don't see action as much as BSF except for the few units who're currently deployed in the valley. Also, we don't deploy MARCOS on the same lines as SEALS capable of taking ops in any and all operational theatres. Remember IN sent only a small team of 10-20 MARCOS during 26/11 saying they were the wrong dog for the fight despite having 1000 MARCOS commandos in Mumbai

Lets see how it goes, some of these could wind their way to other platforms and the BSF too. Who really knows in the end, Navy might be just for "on paper".

It wont really matter till there is actual significant order with local production etc anyway....I feel this is just trial basis.

still feel BSF, Army units on LOC, and CRPF units like COBRA and QRT team needs it .... I am still wondering about their application to the Navy

We don't even know how many systems this is. It could literally be just few dozen trial.

If its a trial, it really doesnt matter who gets it lol. We don't know how good it is and will be or worth investing in it more. That all has to be aired out over some time by field trials.....any service can do that, and in fact there might be reasons to not have it in a deployed theatre off the bat for many reasons...

....not to mention there are a thousand other things BSF needs to do before it gets icing on cake systems like this too

Let's not simp into this stuff all in.

If its good then it permeates over to where its needed most.

The Indian Navy has gone in for an unspecified number of Israeli, cutting-edge fire control systems that tackle drone threats from close range besides improving a soldier’s accuracy and speed of hitting targets. In conversation with Snehesh Alex Philip, the Israeli firm – Smart Shooter – explains how the system works.
