İ wish we would have their destroyers.

Turkey's likeliest threats/opponents are all fairly close to/neighbouring it (EEZ etc).

Thus frigates and corvettes will give you the most suitable weapon + sensor max capacity/projection by way of more raw (surface) hulls available (compared to destroyers and cruisers etc which sink in lot more capital cost and resource into 1 hull).

Consider the context of "one in three" (w.r.t rewarding raw hull numbers in this case) I go into here:

You sacrifice the long endurance of destroyers (to get more ships per resource unit available), but that is good compromise Turkey has done if you ask me...given its geography and Mavi Vatan.

Japan has its particular (different to turkey) defence strategy to consider given pacific ocean right on its shores literally.

Consider also the massive growing power projection of PLAN into this ocean to get well past its earlier relative greenwater containment by 1st island chain and tech + resource differential during cold war era...with their planning oriented towards addressing USN domination here.

Thus extra endurance on some ships is naturally factored in more and rewarded by their (JMSDF) planners....to best augment with the overall allied strategy with USN.

Frigates and Corvettes fit better Turkey's doctrine at the moment considering the sea levels in Mediterranean sea. Sometimes I wish we could field that many destroyers too, but that would require that our doctrine evolves, and there must be a purpose behind it because sailing in the Antalya Riveira with 8 destroyers would not look cool, just waste of resources :)

I kinda like how Ayhan Tarakci explains things, quite down to earth. But it sure would be awesome to have 8 destroyers sailing around escorting fishing vessels..... :ROFLMAO:

But make no mistake, Turkey needs Naval group that can and does sail in the Atlantic Ocean because that would make EU stop fucking around in mediterranean sea.

The whole purpose and emnity towards Turkey stems from wanting to prevent us from sailing freely, and to that end Greece is perfect pawn.

İ said i wanted Japanese fleet because of new Destroyers with SM-3 SM-2 and high end radars however 170 meter 7700ton JS ATAGO wouldnt bother me :p

Guys if our doctrine is penetrate to internal waters, why don't we load YTKBs immensely. İmagine 16 YTKBs with MAR-D /Hisar A+ and Atmaca missiles floating in the Egeansea like wolfpack.

Turkey's likeliest threats/opponents are all fairly close to/neighbouring it (EEZ etc).

Interestingly, the Indian publicly stated position has been that they have never invaded a foreign country (although, that is factually incorrect).

If we believe the official Indian line that only China and Pakistan remain their adversaries, how can we explain the acquisition of aircraft carriers, destroyers and nuclear powered submarines in the Indian Navy in view of the fact that China's only access to oceanic waters is through its Eastern and Southern regions, very far from the Indian Ocean.

However, the topic is the JMSDF and we should not digress. Carry on.
