Fortunately, we were able to deliver the entire first batch (180 units) of exports to Poland within this year. This was made possible by prioritizing exports of the quantities to be used by the Republic of Korea Army starting in 2022 and increasing production at the factories of related companies such as Hyundai Rotem.

Well, I haven't found anything officially announced yet. Based on various news reports, production was around 10 units per month, but after the Polish contract, Hyundai Rotem expanded the production line at their factory, gaining the capacity to produce more than that. Hyundai Rotem will have to produce both Poland's second batch and the South Korean Army's fourth batch going forward, so the production line won't be resting.

Hyundai Glovis has transported 124 K2 tanks and 60 K9 self-propelled howitzers to various locations in Europe, including Poland, since the first half of this year. The first time I saw Glovis' PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier), I remember being overwhelmed by how enormous it was compared to the frigate I was aboard.

On December 15, 2025, licensing agreements were signed for the technology transfer regarding the servicing, repair, and overhaul of K2 and K2PL tanks.

The subject of the licensing agreement, concluded between the State Treasury – Armament Agency and Hyundai Rotem Company, is the transfer of technology for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) activities for K2GF and K2PL tanks.

The subject of the sublicensing agreement, concluded between the State Treasury – Armament Agency and Zakłady Mechaniczne "Bumar-Łabędy" S.A., is the transfer of the rights acquired from Hyundai Rotem Company in the aforementioned licensing contract to perform Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul activities for K2GF and K2PL tanks.

Hyundai Rotem has signed a local production and maintenance cooperation agreement in Poland for the first overseas production of the K2 tank.

On the 28th (local time), Hyundai Rotem announced that it had signed an agreement in Warsaw, Poland, with Bumar-Łabędy, a subsidiary of the state-owned defense group PGZ, for local production and maintenance cooperation of the Poland-type K2 tank (K2PL) and recovery tank

This contract constitutes a core project of the second implementation contract for Poland's K2 tanks, which was signed in August last year, and is intended to finalize detailed plans for local production and maintenance of the K2PL tanks and recovery tanks. The decision on whether to locally produce other variants, such as engineering vehicles and bridge-layer tanks, will be made through further discussions in the future.

The Poland-type K2 tank is a customized vehicle that has been modified and developed to suit local operational environments. Together with other variants using the K2 platform for the first time, it is planned to be produced locally in Poland.

The central focus of this agreement is to establish a local assembly production system for the K2PL tank. It also includes a 'Polish Solution,' which involves using some core equipment manufactured in Poland. By sourcing key components such as front and rear surveillance cameras and inertial navigation systems locally, the contract is expected to enhance the competitiveness of Poland's defense industry.

Hyundai Rotem will also expand cooperation in the area of maintenance. It plans to support the internalization of maintenance technology from the pre-local production stage, including a practical dispatch program that involves Bumar personnel in the maintenance of Polish Army K2 tanks.
