Armenia, Kazakhstan MoDs sign 2024 cooperation plan

Within the framework of his official visit to Kazakhstan, a welcoming ceremony of Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan was held Tuesday at the Ministry of Defense (MoD) of Kazakhstan, Armenia's Defense Ministry informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

After the ceremony, the meeting with the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Ruslan Zhaksylykov, started with an expanded composition. During the meeting, they discussed security and other matters of mutual interest related to Armenian-Kazakh defense cooperation. The great potential for the development of cooperation was noted on both sides, and an agreement was reached on the further development of cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the parties signed the 2024 cooperation plan between the defense ministries of Armenia and Kazakhstan, which includes a number of events in Armenia and Kazakhstan.

The delegations of Kazakhstan and Turkey discussed cooperation in the area of ensuring security in the Caspian Sea.​

Minister Qingis Arinov met with the Turkish delegation led by Deputy Minister of National Defence Bilal Durdali in the capital Astana, according to a statement from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.

General Manager of Military Factory and Shipyard Operation Co (ASFAT) under the Ministry of National Defense Behcet Karatas also took part in the meeting, cooperation was evaluated on ensuring safety at sea and maintaining ships and resources that would respond to emergencies.

Stating that Turkey is an important and reliable partner, Arinov said that cooperation in the field of shipbuilding can be an important element in bilateral relations.

Arinov said they were considering creating a "professional emergency rescue service" that could immediately intervene in emergencies on parts of the Caspian Sea belonging to the Kazakhstan side.

Minister Arinov noted that with this work, various operations at sea and on land can be carried out urgently, such as ensuring safety in the Caspian Sea, interfering with oil spills, ship crashes and fires and rescue operations.

At the meeting where the Turkish side presented modern technologies suitable for the tasks of the service in question, an agreement was reached on mutual cooperation in the area of ensuring security in the Caspian Sea.
