WINGRelatively cheaper and faster delivery, equivalent testing process
On June 18, the Ministry of Defense renewed Lockheed Martin's SPY-7 and base after a survey conducted with the cooperation of the U.S. Navy on the configuration radar of the Aegis system-equipped ship that is planned to be built and deployed. We have decided to adopt Line (BL) 9. When the initial land system plan was canceled and changed to an offshore system, it was necessary to compare the radar, which was supposed to be deployed on land, with other radars. As a result of comparing with other candidate radars SPY-6 and BL10 so far, SPY-7 has the same evaluation as before that the performance at sea is superior. As for the cost schedule, the current plan is expected to be cheaper and deliver earlier. As for the progress of the test, it was decided to proceed with the detailed examination of the Aegis system-equipped ship by SPY-7 and BL9 as before, assuming that the technical maturity level was the same and the future test process was the same.
The next JMSDF AEGIS ships will be equipped with AN/SPY-7 with AEGIS baseline 9 (BL9) instead of AN/SPY-6 with baseline 10 (BL10)
