Some forum members were giving Brimstone missile as an example but in the end, this turned out to be wrong as expected.

He basically said our product is better than Brimstone and that is what I also said. We are developing a product that is better than Brimstone on a technical and price-performance basis. Technically you can compare it to Brimstone-II, not Brimstone but when it comes to price/performance it is in its own class.

Do you know what is the anticipated range of Kuzgun-KY when used in land platform or naval vessels?

All of the Kuzgun variants(gliding-SS, solid fuel-KY, turbojet-TJ) will be tested in 2022.
Kuzgun will have a two-way datalink and man-in-the-loop capability.
Kuzgun SS will be tested before the end of this year.
Kuzgun-SS and KY will carry a 60kg warhead, Kuzgun-TJ will carry a 30kg warhead.
Kuzgun-KY will have a top speed of 1.5 Mach and will reach 40km when fired from land/sea surface. It is requested for the sea platforms, UAVs and attack helicopters.
Kuzgun-TJ will have a range of 250+km when it is launched from a high altitude. Kuzgun-TJ will be able to glide for 100+km before starting powered flight for a total of 250+km range.
The turbojet engine of the Kuzgun will have a thrust of 600N. Engine evaluation activities continue. A foreign engine is selected for prototypes.

What about Roketsan participation in that program?
It is going on without a problem. Roketsan is responsible for the warhead and tests of the control system. The project was supposed to finish in 2014 but saw massive delays due to Germany and will be finished in 2022.

According to the Bundeswehr project started in 2018 and deliveries are expected in 2024.

I'm %100 sure that the project started in 2008 and Roketsan became a part of the project in 2013.

Yeah I agree its older than that, I just found it weird that they put 2018 as the official date. Maybe thats when they decided to green light it for use in the Bundeswehr and until then was an initiative by the companies itself.

I heard that beforehand as well. If I am right, it is limited to 20 minutes.

According to İ. Sunnetci, the average speed of SOM nearly 0.65 Mach except therminal phase ( over 0.8 mach).
17 minutes to be exact.

  • With the KUZGUN Guided Modular Munitions Family, it is aimed to develop a modular ammunition family that can be used by both UCAVs and combat aircraft, it is aimed to be cost-effective and modular in terms of range and warhead options (can be launched from land, surface and airborne platforms ).
  • There is an improved version of TÜBİTAK SAGE's Semi-Active Laser Seeker named CAMGÖZ on the KUZGUN. However, the seeker head can be changed according to the type of operation to be performed.
  • The first member of the KUZGUN Family, KUZGUN-SS, is the Freefall glide variant, which will be test-launched from a UCAV platform this year.
  • There is also a 178mm diameter Dual-Mode model coded CG-178 with both Semi-Active Laser and IIR modes in the CAMGÖZ Laser Seeker Family. As soon as the Dual-Mode head is confirmed, it will be available in 180mm KUZGUN variants.
  • TÜBİTAK SAGE is still working on the Millimeter Wave (MMW) Radar Seeker for the KUZGUN-KY variant. The MMW seeker is critical for marine systems and surface missions.
  • TÜBİTAK SAGE is currently working on a dual-mode seeker, as well as a single-mode seeker where only MMW is used as needed. In case of need, dual-mode head and MMW can be combined.
  • Currently, turbojet engine tests are continuing for KUZGUN-TJ. After the KUZGUN-SS variant, the firing tests of the KUZGUN-TJ will be started when it is finished.
  • There is an integrated RF data link in the new generation 100kg class KUZGUN Guided Modular Munitions Family. The data link is bidirectional and encrypted. In this way, when the IIR seeker head is attached, it transfers the image over the data link and gains man-in-the-loop capability.
  • The KUZGUN-SS variant has a range target of at least 40km with an altitude of 20,000ft and a speed of Mach 0.2, while the KUZGUN-TJ has a range target of 150km in the same flight envelope. The first tests will be carried out as range tests. It is aimed to reach 250km, with an altitude of about 40,000 ft and a speed of 0.9 Mach, in case of being launched from the combat aircraft, because the KUZGUN-TJ has a serious glide capability of close to 100km. It is calculated that 250km can be reached when motorized.
  • When firing from a slow-moving UCAV the KUZGUN-TJ will start the engine, bring it to 'idle' (idle) and launched. In combat aircraft, where speed is greater, the engine will be started after launch.
  • There is a range target of up to 40km for the land-launched version of KUZGUN-KY, which will have a solid-fuel engine. KUZGUN-KY can also be used in Marine helicopters such as SH-70. 8 missiles can be fitted on a naval helicopter.
  • KUZGUN-KY, which is planned to be test-fired in 2022, can also be used in gunboats between 25m and 65m in service with the Naval Forces. In this way, it will be possible to gain an important capability for coastal targets and close land targets for gunboats. For KUZGUN-KY, a concept that can be used in fire and forget mode on SİDA (Armed Unmanned Marine Vehicle) is also proposed.
  • KUZGUN-KY will be able to reach an average speed of approximately 1.5 Mach. Rocket engine design is limited for limitations on datalink and navigation/GPS. To achieve range, the engine will burn slowly and not exceed the Mach 1.5 limit for most of the flight.
