Everybody is trying to do everything now Aselsan will be producing turbojet cruise missiles meanwhile Roketsan is producing RF and IIR seekers. Everything is so all over the place.

It's a good development, we are finally seeing these companies evolving and branching out - more competition is good.

Three Turkish (KALE, TEI, IDEALAB) engine manufacturers will be competing for the turbojet engine of the Kuzgun cruise missile.

And how this missiles are if they are compared? warhead-wise.
Isn't SDB heavier compared to Kuzgun or NLOS Umtas? I more sense it is NLOS UMTAS < KUZGUN < SDB in order or warhead amount.
It is hard to make one missile to please all of the forces at once.

Mass Production of the 5th Generation Portable Air Defense System SUNGUR Has Begun!

September 30, 2021

The SUNGUR Air Defense Missile System, which can be used both from the shoulder and from the platform, is 1.7m long (FIM-92 STINGER 1.52m long) and can be used up to 4km altitude and 8km range.

There is a high-explosive and partial penetrating warhead placed in a titanium cylinder (possibly the continuous titanium rod warhead technique was used) on the SUNGUR, which has an Infrared Imaging (IIR) Seeker Head, which is cooled with a special cooling gas before firing.

Although the information about the speed of SUNGUR is not shared on the grounds that it is confidential information, it has been confirmed that it is faster than the FIM-92 STINGER Missile, in accordance with our evaluation in the light of the shared shooting images.

SUNGUR, which has a front wing set moving in the direction of the shot at the nose and a rear wing set moving perpendicular to the direction of the shot at the back, can make very agile and sharp maneuvers thanks to the main engine exhaust with TVC feature, which can be steered in different axes in the tail.

According to the information I have obtained, the body of the SUNGUR Missile can withstand maneuvers with a force of 50G during its flight to the target. As in the STINGER, the SUNGUR Missile has two separate engines, the first launch engine and the solid fuel main rocket engine (sustainer engine). Thanks to the launch engine, the SUNGUR Missile is launched from the launch tube approximately 9m away without harming the gunner, then the main rocket engine is activated and the missile takes its way towards its target.

As seen in the shooting test videos, when the SUNGUR launch engine is activated, the rotation travels in a balanced way when exiting the launch tube and the launcher.

Before IDEF '21 Fair, ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İKİNCİ, who met with around 50 press members from the written and visual media at Swiss Hotel on Monday, August 16, gave the following information about the current status of the SUNGUR $Project in response to a question: “As you know, SUNGUR Serial production has started, as is the case, and we are currently working on it to be delivered to our Armed Forces. Many successful shots were made.”

ROKETSAN General Manager İKİNCİ also said the following regarding the SUNGUR-based LEVENT CIWS System: “As you know, the Close Air Defense Systems (CIWS) on our ships generally consist of RAM and SeaRam products. Close air defense support on ships where our SUNGUR Missile is based on our Portable Air Defense Missile. We will introduce our LEVENT System, which will create a LEVENT will have two versions. In the first version, it will destroy targets using only the electro-optics and radars on the ship, and in the second version, it will gain the ability to engage with its own independent electro-optic and radar systems. We will also make changes to the existing SUNGUR Missile. The range will be extended and we will add technologies that are supported by RF Seekers and RF Receivers, which can follow the target more closely.”

No video of a shoulder launch.

It seems that TRG-300 missile is now to have an improved block 3 version soon.
The newer improved version will have more protection against EW. It will still operate between 30 - 120km range. With a special guidance system it will be more accurate.
There is also work being done to enable the missile to be launched from sea platforms. The missile can also be used in all weather conditions.
I hope that they will use composite materials in the production of these missiles too, to save on weight, thereby, either improve the explosive weight or the range of the missile.
