Penguin being fired. Anyone know why the wings are being moved, is it a prelaunch test for functionality ?

LAWs and RPGs are so widespread due to the cold war.

Nowadays both are obsolete but they get the job done not to mention there are too many them which is pretty expensive to replace.

AT4 and the Carl G right now are the best anti tank and anti personnel launchers to use.

Most armies have MG crews rather than AT. Infantry most of time are instructed not to engage in tanks and other armoured vehicles but it seems this doctine avoiding tanks only made infantry get destroyed by armour.

Its all to do with money because not every soldier will get the right tools due to hiearchy.

Any info about it's range when launched from air platform?
Presumed 20kms for this version.
Was there a similar missile with longer range? Like around 30+ km?
That will be UMTAS-GM block 2. It was announced 32kms from surface, 50kms from air.

My biggest worry for this and all others is the IIR seeker. We mastered laser seekers, that much is known.

32km distance is non line of sight so the missile can't be fire and forget ( or lock on before launch)

İ wonder how guidance system of UMTAS-GM works? Operator controls the flight via Datalink?
On the other hand how could a person identify or detect a moving target from 30-50km?

datalink & man-in-the-loop control
it seems there is no man control.

NLOS is not a LOETERING Munition.

UAV passes image of target. then seeker of missile finds the image.

shoudnt be that hard yet a certain degree of human supervision in the field is still needed because of both practical and ethical reasons since modern wars are not taking place at open fields of middle ages

Looks like that because the video is high frame rate and gets slowed down before the wings have fully unfurled.
In those timestamps, the wings are not perpendicular to the missile body. They look stuck halfway.

You beat me to it :D
System acceptance tests, right?
Not sure. Serial production was to start already but those guys aren't army guys so doubt these are acceptance tests. We also don't know when was this shot, but Karaok is set to enter service in 2024.
