NATO countries are ready to continue building up their presence in the Black Sea region and to assist in the development of Ukraine's naval capabilities. This was stated by NATO's Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Defense Investment Division Gordon (Skip) Davis, Ukrinform reports.

“At Ukraine's request, we are exploring opportunities to enhance its access to surveillance and awareness of the situation at sea. Several states - Canada, Italy, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom - support the efforts of Romania and Bulgaria to protect airspace. Turkish and US naval patrol aircraft also help maintain security in the region. We have more ships, more naval exercises and naval operations, more events in the ports of Ukraine and Georgia," Davis said.

According to him, NATO's permanent naval groups undergo regular training together with Ukrainian and Georgian warships. They have already proven their ability to work together with them in the Black Sea region. The recent Sea Breeze 2021 exercise is one example of this successful collaboration.
