Tehran, Nov 19, IRNA – Shahid Roudaki ocean-going, aircraft carrier warship joined the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy in a ceremony on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended by a group of Iranian civilian and military officials including the IRGC Commander Major-General Hossein Salami.

The multifunctional vessel is capable to give logistical support for jetfighters, aircraft, drones, missile systems, and radars being carried on board.

The 400-ton Shahid Roudaki warship is 150 meters long and 22 meters wide. It is equipped with three dimensional radars, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles. It can carry helicopters and operational vessels, all of which have been domestically-designed and made.

As an "Aircraft Carrier" it is a joke :)
As a RAS /LSS it serves the same purpose ,VERTEG, as rear landing platform with hangar in supper structure or a telescopic hangar on helopad.

Yeah the naming are ridiculous btw, they also name their tankers (the Kharg), as aircraft carrying tankers

To my eyes, it looks like a container ship.

Iranian journos and their famously catastrophic translations.

They probably meant "aircraft carrying" as it can accommodate helicopters and drones.

As I have said on twitter, this ship is of limited utility. No doubt the IRGC intends to use it as a power projection tool abroad. But in my opinion it doesn't do that job effectively enough. The best Iran could have hoped for in that situation is SIGINT capabilities and a roster of capable UAVs. It will at most hold mobile truck based SIGINT (less powerful than ship-installed) and the UAVs will be too small for high-endurance or armed operations.

Maybe not totally useless, but still disappointing.
