Having a look at Dongsha and it seems that the airstrip is getting a face lift. Mounds of what look like gravel, perhaps for some bedrock base.

A handy little prize for Emporer Xi, but a tricky one if Taiwan are serious about defending it.

Any ideas?

Interesting, on closer inspection it looks like the entire place may be getting a 'face lift'.

A new runway surface and new buildings, and looks like a possible supply of rocks for runway repair. Rocks plus quick dry concrete can have a runway back in about 12 to 18 hours.

I await the signs of missile sites to deter the invaders. Maybe dredging near the two piers to the south.

Taking Pratas island would be a bit tricky. Surrounded by coral reefs and poor tides a water borne invasion may well come unstuck.

A paratroop attack would be a sitting duck for a bunch of Sky Bow/Stinger missiles and the 20x copies of the Y-20 would be lucky to deliver any dry troops. A lot of water and not much land to aim at from a couple of 1000'.

Imagine Emporer Xi loss of face it it all failed.
