40mm bofors instead of SMASH auto cannon. Maybe they'll replace those once the manufacturing by Aselsan is complete.

Indonesian navy also took that approach with the PC-40 patrol craft. Initially fitted with Denel 20mm manually operated guns before being replaced by Merlin 30mm auto cannon

Let's hope it's true. @Anmdt what could be the reason for delay?

It was rumored once and i don't know much about that. Aselsan could deliver SMASH in relatively short time if it was ordered when project has begun (or even later). So i rather think they try to keep this platform relatively cheaper?
Is the Bofors recycled from other platforms or inventory?

AFAIK it takes at least 12 months to deliver a product. We saw the info about SMASH in July, 2021 but BN perhaps ordered it before that. Could it be that it's still not the time for delivery?

Well, if BCG's can get RCWS in their newest IPV then i don't see why BN can't get RCWS with this OPV. But if you look at the picture, it looks like a manually operated gun though details in website say otherwise. Anyway, latest picture suggest the Bofors 40mm isn't there anymore.

Don't know. The turret looks like the one in Salisbury class but that had twin cannon.

So look like the 40mm bofors is really a temporary solution and DefSeca's report about STAMP-2 is not true.

Third vessel BNS Shaheed Mohibullah (P 413) has been launched. Interesting part is that there's no Bofors 40mm gun this time. Three vessels have been launched in few months. The fourth vessel will be launched soon too.

Looks like 4th Padma class patrol craft is still in building hall while the 5th one's construction progressed a lot. Perhaps both will be launched together.

Still no change on the main gun. Wondering if we canceled the plan for Smash. Saw someone saying it won't be equipped with it because some issue with the gun mount or propulsion whatever. @Anmdt what do you think? Is it still possible to equip it with Smash? Design says it's possible though.

Propulsion doesn't have much to do with it, honestly. and i think the foundation could be adapted, the above link shows an example of integration through the same foundation of an old weapon system.

Could be a funding issue? Or they may have not found it necessary anymore and went for the old system instead.
