Oct 9 (Reuters) - Norse Atlantic Airways (NORSE.OL), opens new tab will lease two Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), it said on Friday, in the ‌latest move by the struggling Norwegian airline to shore up its finances.
The agreement helps Norse retain a key ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) contract after India's largest ⁠airline IndiGo in July said it would end its wet-lease arrangement with the Norwegian group.

PIA was privatised after an Arif Habib-led consortium won a 75 percent stake in the airline for Rs135 billion ($486 million) in December 2025, part of Pakistan's broader effort to reduce the financial burden of loss-making state-owned enterprises. Management control was transferred to the consortium in June 2026.

Fleet modernisation is a key challenge for the airline as it seeks to expand international operations, improve operational reliability and regain passenger confidence.
