Pakistan today conducted successful flight test of Shaheen-1A surface to surface ballistic missile.
Pakistan's Armed Forces Public Relations Unit (ISPR) said the test was carried out to re-verify the technical structure and design of the weapons system, including the advanced navigation system.
Pakistani President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan also congratulated officials on the successful test of the Sahin 1-A missile, which has a range of 900 kilometers.
The Pakistani military has previously tested Mughal missiles with a range of 490 kilometers, Eagle-1 with a range of 650 kilometers, Ghauri with a range of 1,300 kilometers, Eagle-2 with a range of 1,500 kilometers and Eagle-III missiles with a range of 2,750 kilometers.
Pakistan successfully tested the "Fateh-1", a domestically developed multi-barrel rocket launcher system, on January 7.
Pakistan, meanwhile, announced in January 2020 that it had successfully tested the Ghaznaevi ballistic missile with a range of 290 kilometers, a few days after India's K-4 ballistic missile test, and in February 2020 it announced a successful test of the Ra'ad II cruise missile.
Tensions rose between the two nuclear powers after India abolished the special status of Cammu Kashmir on August 5, 2019 and divided the state into two centrally-held union territories.
Tensions have strained both countries' arms competition.
