Filipino and US forces are restarting a two-week joint military exercise which was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. President Rodrigo Duterte cancelled his country's defence pact with Washington last year. But with regional tensions rising and China expanding its military presence, he has reversed that decision. Al Jazeera's Jamela Alindogan reports from Manila, Philippines.

I don’t remember Duterte signing the cancellation. It’s lying on his desk somewhere.

I think it was a move to threaten US, but considering how poor Philippines is they should have worked on improving other relations and keep relations with the US good.

Like Australia and India, along with those who have interest in the south seas.

But PH is in really poor condition and US isn’t keen on helping most of their allies become strong and independant.
