I used to live in Dhanmondi back then, and it was over an hour's walk to the BDR gate, but we still had to evacuate as the army ordered civilians to evacuate within some radius of bdr headquarters, sorry, I don't remember the exact number but I won't forget the atmosphere and horror. We had to go to a relative's house outside of Dhaka, and a friend who lived near a train station told us there were tanks and armored vehicles coming on trains. We were almost sure it would be a civil war.
I won't argue with the above comments but both the incident following the trials and the sentencing seem completely fishy. I mean, just check out the timing of everything
