Perks of having your own defence industry.

It acts as a deterent, allows ypu to defend your interests without any strings attached while it generates money for the economy and creates jobs while creating a generation of talent.

Also never leave the defence of your nation to another nation.

Any nation who relies on another country for their defence is a dead man walking.

While our neighbours bankrupt themselves with extortion prices when it comes to defence.

Boggles my mind how Arabs and even Greeks are willing to pay so much defence arms that its really criminal. They are getting ripped off too.

Iam just copying @Anmdt post regarding the message the govt and TSK wanted to send to Greece by sharing such an announcement along with a firing video to media outlets; thus, all credit goes to the glorious guy

I don't think 561 km is a coincidence, might be done in response to that one particular country (and the satellites) that kept restricting any missile system TR developing, at 280km, if incorporates any component supplied by them.

280x2 + 1 , that +1 has a meaning there. From this point onwards it is not about the max range of this missile, but the max range that TR can achieve in missile programs.

You will see Greeks crying about this soon and EU and US making statements on 'worrying developments in ME that will tip down the stability of the region" and even condemning.

The leak was purely intentional. A news reporter from DHA happens pass by Rize airport, magically when the launcher takes position and somehow he also gets the information that it is Tayfun SRBM and the test (?) details. This wasn't really a test, clearly a message. Likely TAF didn't want information to be released through official channels and so does the state to avoid certain embargos that can be linked with MTCR. We all know some countries provide some countries tools that enable BM tech but again we all know those countries would ban a simple polymer to TR because it is involved in body of a missile exceeding MTCR limits.

MTCR comittee asks: Do you develop any missiles above 300 km range with any equipment stemming from abroad, that enabling the tech.

TR: No, we have no missile programme for 300+ using those equipments , our missile systems are declared ro be 280~ complying with the regulations. (Legally) .

That is good news. Does it mean greek jets cannot land in those bases? How about some highways or airports? Or can they land in Italy? Can we destroy american bases in greece? Can they be quickly repaired? We need to think 5 moves ahead and have a game plan for all alternatives.

Greece realised that its chances against Turkey is declining at an ever increasing rate. Their situation is dire. Therefore they have been trying to provoke a conflict now and hopefully get their ally France involved somehow. Turkey, on the other hand, has time on her side. Hence this reveal to force Greece back from the warpath. In 5-10 years, Turkey will be so strong that Greece will be a walkover and France wouldn’t dare to do anything about it.

So how was it tested previously? Turkey had to release an NOTAM and this time and age, and especially the location Turkey is in, OSI could have easily found out if Turkey had performed an Ballistic Missile tests before.

There is a regular on and off NOTAM publications for around Sinop area for about 2 years now.(atleast as far as i remember. Maybe there were Notams before that time as well) These NOTAMs were published for various missile testings so one of those could be for Tayfun missile.

It’s just Ballistic missiles tests are very difficult to hide as they have to re -enter the atmosphere and lots of tracking systems in place to monitor them.
I believe it’s Turkey’s first test run and Congratulations to the scientists and the countrymen for joining the Ballistic missiles club which are very few.

We will see very soon the reaction of US, EU and others who will express their concerns. But Türkiye simply doesn't care.
It is obvious that without domestic production of weapon systems and a strong army you will be always off any negotiations
regarding your region and your interests. I am quite happy Türkiye is now a member of the ballistic missiles club

it isn't a coincidence, it is the distance from ISTANBUL to ATHENS Start in Rize is not a coincidence as well as the Greeks consider Istanbul and Rize as greek cities.

Since the Bora launcher was used, shots may have been fired within the Bora range for trials, it cannot be understood in this way. Maybe it was Tayfun, not Bora, who was thrown into the Iraqi PKK camp.
