CNN's Anna Coren is in Kabul with new evidence of the atrocities committed by the Taliban as video emerged of Afghan commandos being shot dead after an apparent surrender. The Taliban rejects the video, saying it's fabricated.

Dawlat Abad, Afghanistan (CNN)Over clear but unsteady video, the words ring out: "Surrender, commandos, surrender." Several men emerge from a building; they are clearly unarmed.

Gunfire erupts. At least a dozen men are seen shot to death amid cries of "Allahu Akhbar" -- God is Great.
The victims were members of an Afghan Special Forces unit: their executioners, the Taliban. The summary killings took place on June 16 in the town of Dawlat Abad in Faryab province, close to Afghanistan's border with Turkmenistan.
CNN has obtained and verified several videos of the incident and has spoken with witnesses.

A few Turkish special forces once were surrounded by Isis in a mountain or a hill I think in Syria. They died fighting against them not one surrendered.

Turkish special forces that were ambushed did not surrender they fought until the last breath. Thanks for clarifying brother.

Because presumably Taliban are expected to behave like Mother Teresa of Kolkatta. Wars are often dirty. In WW2 British and American soldiers often shot dead captured German soldiers. So did Germans. Between Russians and Germans this took on altogether another scale of barbarity.

But civil wars as you see playing out tend to be even bloody. Some of the worst bestial crimes were inflicted on the Taliban. US and Australian SF ofen tortured and murdered Taliban. Some even cut of heads or ears as battle trophies.

In one terrible incident Dostum's men captured 100s of Taliban and locked them into metal containers to die horrible, slow deaths inside. This is all on record. 1,000s of other Taliban captured were murdered and buried in mass graves all over seen by US Special Forces. Of course this narrative is mostly suppressed.

Not saying Taliban are angels but making it like they are evil and others are angels is just pure propaganda. Maybe Jackdaws has historical animus from the event that gave a mountain the name 'Hindu Kush'.

After 20 years of bad blood lot of old scores are going to be settled and it's not going to be pretty.

"We had no water for 20 hours. We banged on the side of the container. There was no air and it was very hot.

"There were 300 of us in my container. By the time we arrived in Shiberghan, only 10 of us were still alive."

Human Rights group from Boston, which identified the mass grave earlier this year and later sent out a forensic scientist to carry out further tests, suggests that 2,000-3,000 of the 8,000 prisoners taken to Shiberghan died on the way.

But the Guardian has obtained harrowing details which suggest that their death was not a tragic accident but a deliberate act of revenge

Nah - I don't expect them to behave like Mother Teresa. Two wrongs don't make a right - I doubt anyone sane would justify what Dostum's men did. Or indeed the treatment meted out in Abu Gharib or in Guantanamo Bay.

But that's not an excuse to justify this massacre either.

Some reports are stating Afghan SF surrendered only after they ran out of ammo...when you're cornered and have no way out while running out of ammo and exponentially outnumbered, surrendering is still a better option. Live to fight another day

When we highlight one incident it amounts to distorting the reality. The sad fact is there is absolutely nothing humane about war and particularly a civil war in a country brutalized by 40 years of conflict. No side in this conflict can be proud of their conduct and that of course includes Taliban.

Taliban wont follow rules or protocols.

They were better off fighting with knives than surrendering.

To fight another day is to withdraw and regroup.
