At least nine policemen, including two senior officers, were martyred in a terrorist attack on a police post in Balochistan’s Ziarat district on Tuesday, officials said.
Ziarat Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Qudoos Achakzai confirmed that it was a terrorist incident, adding that it occurred in the Mangi Dam area.
He added that nine policemen, including two senior officers, had been martyred.
The DC said the whereabouts of five policemen were still unknown, adding that additional personnel had been dispatched to the area.

The 12th meeting of the Russian-Pakistani Working Group on Countering International Terrorism has been held in Islamabad, a bilateral format that fills a gap that, according to Sultan M. Hali, a military analyst and former Pakistani Air Force colonel, multilateral platforms like the United Nations cannot address, as they are slow and constrained by bureaucracy.
He said that Pakistan values Russia’s counter-terrorism experience from Syria and the North Caucasus, particularly in urban warfare, drone suppression, and counter-insurgency. Cooperation with Moscow also provides Pakistan with political cover within the SCO and the UN, reinforcing its image as a responsible stakeholder in regional security.
Russia’s expertise in surveillance, cyber defense, and counter-drone systems complements Pakistan’s operational needs. In return, Pakistan offers decades of counter-insurgency experience, including counter-IED tactics, hostage rescue, and urban clearance operations.
Its border management expertise — especially along the porous Afghan frontier — offers insights into infiltration patterns. Pakistan’s deradicalization programs, such as the Sabaoon initiative in Swat, provide lessons beyond kinetic operations that could prove valuable for Russia in Central Asia.

Security forces have killed 39 more terrorists during the last 48 hours in a massive operation launched in the Shaban area of Quetta district, officials said on Friday.
They said security forces, including the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and police, had been conducting a joint operation in the Shaban area since July 5 against terrorists involved in the killing of 27 police personnel during an attack on a police post at Mangi dam pumping station.

During the operation, high-value commanders Surt Marwat and Niaz, affiliated with the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group, were targeted and killed.
The killed commander Niaz of the proscribed Gul Bahadur Group was conducting drone attacks on the homes of members of the Peace Committee.
Due to fear of security forces’ operations, assistance was sought from the leadership of the Gul Bahadur Group based in Afghanistan.
In response, the Shura of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group dispatched the notorious commander Surt Marwat from Lakki to assist the terrorist network, who was killed in the security forces’ operation.
This is proof that the leadership of the terrorist organization is present in Afghanistan and provides support to local commanders from there.
The killed commander Surt Marwat was beheading innocent citizens on charges of espionage.

Two law enforcers martyred in DI Khan ambush: police

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Two policemen were martyred when unidentified armed men ambushed a police patrol in the Shah Alam Mor area of Daraban Kalan in Dera Ismail Khan district on Friday, police said.
Regional Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Mekan said the attack occurred within the limits of the Choudhwan police station when armed men opened fire on a police party returning from the site of a protest.
Police said the incident followed the fatal shooting of a civilian on Thursday night.
Officials said unidentified gunmen attempted to stop two men travelling on a motorcycle in the Choudhwan area a day earlier. When the riders failed to stop, the attackers opened fire, killing one of the men.
The killing prompted residents to block Daraban Road on Friday morning. The road was later reopened after successful negotiations between the protesters and police.
Officials said four policemen travelling on two motorcycles after the protest ended were ambushed near Shah Alam Mor by armed men lying in wait.
Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Faqir Hussain and Head Constable Wazir Khan were martyred in the attack, while the two other policemen remained unharmed.
Police and security personnel rushed to the scene, shifted the bodies to hospital for legal formalities and launched a search operation to trace the attackers. An investigation is underway.

Perception being created that the situation in Balochistan is deteriorating: DG ISPR

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Friday that deliberate attempts were being made to create a perception that the situation in Balochistan was deteriorating.
He made this remark while addressing a press conference focused on the overall security situation in the country, particularly Balochistan.
At the outset of the briefing, the military’s spokesperson said 40,348 intelligence-based operations had been conducted this year so far, adding that the figure covered operations carried out by all security forces, including police, civil armed forces, intelligence agencies and the armed forces.
Of these operations, most were carried out in Balochistan, with the number exceeding 31,000, he said.

Bullet-riddled bodies of 6 kidnapped labourers found in Balochistan's Turbat

QUETTA: The bodies of six of seven labourers who were kidnapped earlier this week in the Turbat city of Balochistan’s Kech district were found with bullet wounds on Thursday, an official told Dawn.
On Tuesday, unidentified armed men had blocked Turbat-Mand Road in the Kalatak area of Kech district and taken away the seven labourers, who were travelling in a vehicle.
The kidnappers had killed one of the labourers the same day and dumped his body on a highway.
On Thursday, the bodies of the remaining six labourers were also found, Balochistan Home Department spokesperson Babar Yousafzai told Dawn.
He said the kidnappers had taken the labourers to an undisclosed location, where one of them was killed shortly after the abduction and his body was dumped on the highway.
They later also killed the six remaining labourers, whose bodies were found in Turbat’s Nasirabad area, he added.
Yousafzai said the bodies bore torture marks and bullet wounds, and it seemed that the labourers had been shot at close range.
According to him, four of the deceased were from Punjab and two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They were working on a development project in Kech district, and their bodies were taken to the district headquarters hospital in Turbat for autopsy, he said.
