Hellenic Air Force is going to acquire 8 T55-GA-714A engines from the USA for the CH-47 Chinook transport helicopters. The acquisition of the engines was discussed in the previous days in the Congress and, according to the available data, their cost reaches 14 million dollars. To avoid further bureaucracy, the supply is part of the transfer program of the 10 CH-47D helicopters which were approved in 2014 by the US and arrived in Greece between 2016 and 2019. Thanks to the new engines, support for the CH-47D will be improved and the replacing the engines that now carry the 9 CH-47DG.

Bro, when i see any news on Greece relating to defence matters. It's always buying stuff of the shelf. News are like "Greece buys this, Greece buys that."

For example, I remember that Greece have a robust Ship Production industry but you are buying warships from other European countries.

Are there no Greek Defence Industries? Or if there some, what are their products?

Greece once had a strong shipbuilding industry, now the shipyards have sold out in Germany and are malfunctioning. Greece does not develop weapons systems like Turkey or other countries, it depends almost 100% on foreign markets. The Browning M2 canisters are produced in Greece with a license from the USA, while there is a Greek company that manufactures optical lenses for binoculars on the MG3 & G3A3/A4.

You gotta explain this man. Rise and fall of Greece's defence industry. Why would Greek politicians believe dependance would protect your country from threats?? Did they never think of the long term consequences?
