NASA’s new X-59 quiet supersonic jet took off for its first flight from US Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California
Lockheed Martin Skunk Works and NASA complete first flight of X-59 quiet supersonic aircraft in California, and concluded with a safe landing at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards.X-59, a supersonic aircraft designed to demonstrate reduced sonic boom levels. Its main objective is to reduce the rattling sonic boom into "sonic thump" limited to the 75 EPNdB (Effective Perceived Noise Level).
