The agreement with US and Denmark back in old times means US gets military supremacy, meaning they can build all the military bases they want to ensure US security, but Denmark/Greenland retains civil control.

Which effectively means US can not do anything but build bases, have jets, and soldiers on Greenland.

I think that Europe should stop pretend that they care about Greenland, they should concentrate how to support Israel much better than they have. They should support democratic rights of Iranian women to wear mini skirts, Kurdish,Greek,Serb, Armenians, Druze and what not out of those fake nations.

Americans are crafty and shrewd they dragged Russia into Ukraine, got the whole of europe to turn on Russia and support Ukraine. Now both sides are effectively trapped murdering each other, the americans will find zero opposition should they choose to oppose the usa annexation of greenland.

Europe got absolutely f'ked by the USA. And then ofcourse the europeans are left licking the arses of the zionists.

Its very possible in the future that the USA will take their foot off the gas concerning Russia and cut a deal to divide Europe between them.

Trump threatens tariffs against those who oppose him taking Greenland

President raises pressure on European allies as US envoy says deal to take island ‘should and will be made’

Fear in Greenland as threat of invasion looms

Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on countries that do not “go along” with his plan to annex Greenland, increasing pressure on European allies who have opposed his effort to take over the Arctic territory.

After a tense week in which Nato allies deployed troops to the largely autonomous territory, which is part of the Danish kingdom, the US president announced he might punish countries that do not support his plans to take over Greenland, using force if necessary.

Earlier, Trump’s special envoy to Greenland said a deal for Washington to take over the island “should and will be made” as a US congressional delegation visited Copenhagen in a show of support for Denmark and Greenland.

Jeff Landry said he planned to visit Greenland in March and that the US president “is serious” about acquiring theArctic island.

The bipartisan group of 11 members of the House and Senate – including the Republican senators Thom Tillis and Lisa Murkowski and the Democrat senator Chris Coons – travelled to the capital of Denmark to meet the Danish and Greenlandic leaders, Mette Frederiksen and Jens-Frederik Nielsen, in a show of solidarity against Trump’s threats of military intervention.

It is the second time this week Trump has used the threat of tariffs, saying he would impose a 25% tax on imports to the US from countries that do business with Iran amid a brutal crackdown by its regime that has left thousands dead and imprisoned tens of thousands.

Trump raised the tariffs idea on Friday during a wide-ranging 45-minute nearly uninterrupted address at a packed rural healthcare event in the White House East Room.

Trump told the audience of lawmakers, doctors and political power players he might put tariffs on countries that did not “go along with Greenland because we need Greenland for national security”.

He pointed to threats he made against European allies over drug pricing, saying he warned France and Germany of 25% tariffs if they did not pay more for prescription drugs, and recalled telling French president Emmanuel Macron: “You have to get your drug prices up.”

He mused that he could take the same approach to Denmark and “may do that for Greenland too”.

His comments came after Landry told Fox News: “I do believe that there’s a deal that should and will be made once this plays out.”

He added: “The president is serious. I think he’s laid the markers down.

“He’s told Denmark what he’s looking for, and now it’s a matter of having Secretary Rubio and Vice-President JD Vance make a deal.”

Denmark announced it had agreed to provide support to help Greenland’s emergency preparedness.

Torsten Schack Pedersen, Denmark’s minister for public safety and emergency preparedness, said: “It is important that we stand together.”

Peter Borg, Greenland’s minister for fisheries, hunting, agriculture, self-sufficiency and environment, said his government “appreciates the support from Denmark to strengthen preparedness in Greenland”.

This week, Greenlanders living in the capital, Nuuk, said they were so afraid of the threat from the US that they were watching the skies and seas themselves. In the absence of emergency preparedness support from authorities, many said they had been left to work out their own plans on what to do in the case of emergency evacuation or capture by US forces.

Donald J. Trump Truth Social Post 11:19 AM EST 01.17.26

We have subsidized Denmark, and all of the Countries of the European Union, and others, for many years by not charging them Tariffs, or any other forms of remuneration. Now, after Centuries, it is time for Denmark to give back — World Peace is at stake! China and Russia want Greenland, and there is not a thing that Denmark can do about it. They currently have two dogsleds as protection, one added recently. Only the United States of America, under PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP, can play in this game, and very successfully, at that! Nobody will touch this sacred piece of Land, especially since the National Security of the United States, and the World at large, is at stake. On top of everything else, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland have journeyed to Greenland, for purposes unknown. This is a very dangerous situation for the Safety, Security, and Survival of our Planet. These Countries, who are playing this very dangerous game, have put a level of risk in play that is not tenable or sustainable. Therefore, it is imperative that, in order to protect Global Peace and Security, strong measures be taken so that this potentially perilous situation end quickly, and without question. Starting on February 1st, 2026, all of the above mentioned Countries (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Finland), will be charged a 10% Tariff on any and all goods sent to the United States of America. On June 1st, 2026, the Tariff will be increased to 25%. This Tariff will be due and payable until such time as a Deal is reached for the Complete and Total purchase of Greenland. The United States has been trying to do this transaction for over 150 years. Many Presidents have tried, and for good reason, but Denmark has always refused. Now, because of The Golden Dome, and Modern Day Weapons Systems, both Offensive and Defensive, the need to ACQUIRE is especially important. Hundreds of Billions of Dollars are currently being spent on Security Programs having to do with “The Dome,” including for the possible protection of Canada, and this very brilliant, but highly complex system can only work at its maximum potential and efficiency, because of angles, metes, and bounds, if this Land is included in it. The United States of America is immediately open to negotiation with Denmark and/or any of these Countries that have put so much at risk, despite all that we have done for them, including maximum protection, over so many decades. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

There is little reason to believe anything Trump says. One has to work out the likelihood that he is being truthful when he says something.

I don't believe that Trump's desire to buy/annexe Greenland is connected with a concern for US security. I think that Trump sees Greenland as a source of minerals. IMO the security concern cited for the US needing to own Greenland is a fabrication

Trump’s statements usually have to be filtered through motive first, and in this case the “security” angle feels like a convenient wrapper. The US already has basing access in Greenland and full NATO coverage in the North Atlantic. If this was really about defense, annexation wouldn’t even be on the table. Resources and leverage make way more sense as the driver.

What’s ironic is that Canada quietly does the Arctic properly. Canada already invest in presence, diplomacy, NORAD, and actual sovereignty. Canada works with allies and respects international law, and still manages to be a serious Arctic nation without threatening to buy or seize territory.
Canada is expanding its military presence and operations in the Arctic, increasing year-round CAF deployments, exercises and training to assert sovereignty and work with allies. Just by being there and budling capabilities to respond. Those investments include enhanced surveillance, NORAD modernization, and collaboration with international partners to strengthen domain awareness and defense across North America.

The Arctic doesn’t need a dealmaker. I'd say It needs stability, massive logistics that have been neglective, and long-term commitment. Ottawa seems to understand this. If Arctic security really mattered wouldn’t serious investment and allied cooperation matter more than talking about buying someone else’s territory and showing Russia/China that a rift exist between allies?

What does not seem to feature prominently in discussion as to what to do about Trump coveting Greenland is the idea of self determination. I cannot cite sources but I understand that a large majority of Greenlanders do not want to become US citizens. It would go against the principle of self determination for Denmark to pass sovereignty of Greenland to the US without first putting such a proposition to a vote by the people of Greenland and receiving majority approval.

“Nato has been telling Denmark, for 20 years, that “you have to get the Russian threat away from Greenland.” Unfortunately, Denmark has been unable to do anything about it. Now it is time, and it will be done!!! President Donald J. Trump”

“The European leaders will come around. And they will understand that they need to be under the US security umbrella. What would happen in Ukraine if the US pulled its support out? The whole thing would collapse.

So crazy, those words are not come from a little boy but the US president.
Sounds just like Europe is under the attack of both Russia and US.

Does he get away with it and who is at fault here?
What other choice did the US voters have, either him who gets things done or the worthless woman who doesnt even have a personality?
The system allows this.
There is only one party to blame here and that is the EU,a spineless gutless two faced entity.
Maybe they'll wake up now(doubt it).

I support D. Trump ambition to annex Greenland 🇬🇱 🇺🇸.
So you support annexation. What about the EU wanting to annexe the European part of Turkiye - would that be fine with you? How about Canada wanting to annexe Alaska?

US President Donald Trump sent a letter to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, stating that since he did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, he "no longer feels obligated to think only about peace," Bloomberg reports.

According to available information, Trump notes in the letter that he has ended more than eight wars but has never been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Considering that your country has decided not to award me the Nobel Peace Prize for ending more than eight wars, I no longer feel obligated to think only about peace," Trump said in the letter.

"I have repeatedly explained to Trump what is well known: the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded not by the Norwegian government, but by an independent Nobel Committee," the Norwegian prime minister stated.

The Norwegians have thoughtlessly insulted Trump. What if he looks at a map and sees the Norwegian island of Svalbard? After all, the Russian threat is more real to Norwegians than to distant Greenland.

In my opinion, the prize should have been awarded to Trump, not to a Venezuelan woman who, by the way, called on Trump to bomb her homeland.

Especially since among the Nobel Prize laureates and candidates are not only worthy figures, but even fascists like Hitler. And, incidentally, it was one famous Norwegian writer who presented his Nobel Prize... to Goebbels.

To be fair, it should be noted that peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is indeed Trump's doing. How many wars did Obama prevent? Not a single one!
