Looks like there is some truth behind this after all and the acquisition of c130 from the uk.

We should produce Antonov An-178 and An-188 in Turkiye with Aselsan avionics and Western engines. They are beautiful cargo planes with outstanding performance. We can sign a deal similar to the T-129 Atak project. Instead of buying various platforms from different parties, we can support our own defense industry. We need a sizeable cargo fleet. Tanker or AWACS versions can also be developed as time passes. We can order a big number of planes, like 60, and take delivery in 10 years for maximum production line efficiency.

It sounds great on paper but have heard anything about this since the war started? I don't think it is on the table anymore.

As long as we don't have an indigenous engine for these platforms then we're stuck. If we can develop and build an engine in Turkiye (from scratch) that can power e.g. CN235 then that would be a good starting point and we can proceed from there.

That's why our own engine projects are so important, but I wish we could progress faster and have some semi-serial production soon. :(

As long as we don't have an indigenous engine for these platforms then we're stuck. If we can develop and build an engine in Turkiye (from scratch) that can power e.g. CN235 then that would be a good starting point and we can proceed from there.

That's why our own engine projects are so important, but I wish we could progress faster and have some semi-serial production soon. :(
We won't be stuck with those. They are unarmed cargo planes. We will buy CFM leap engines like everyone else does. TEI has full maintenance and part production capability for LEAP engines.

We will offer a deal similar to T-129 and produce those planes in Turkiye. I don't think Ukraine will reject th.is offer. At this point, they need anything to stimulate their economy. TUSAS can shift some of the structural parts production to TOMTAS.

I think this will only be possible if our workload in aviation decreases, at least we need to complete projects like Hürjet, Hürkuş, Atak2...

Wouldn’t make sense if we can buy transport aircraft development cost and time are to much to make it worthwhile and you can’t just turn a tf6000 into an worthy investment for cargo planes

If we use the same infrastructure for regional passenger aircraft, why not? Also, considering that the probability of these aircraft being exported is very high, I think it would be a valuable investment.

I think we have done enough co-production and sub-licensing, isn't it time to stand on our own two feet?
