Ever since I watched this Youtube video about the impressive Logistics of the US, I wondered where we stand from a logistics standpoint.

We all saw how important logistics are when the Russians had to abandon hundreds of vehicles in Ukraine because they couldnt refuel them or how their soldiers were starving and started looting.

Any insights from our experts?

These are the transport aircrafts we currently operate according to Wikipedia. 2 of our A400M stuck in Kiev. Thats a total of 70 aircraft, but the CN-235 are rather small.

Compare this with France:

Transport and Tanker
Airbus A330 MRTTEuropeJetTanker & Transport2018888 delivered on an order of 15. The 9th will be delivered in December 2022.The 10th, 11th, 12th will be delivered in July, September and December 2023.The final target of 15 aircraft will be reached between 2025 and 2030 by converting the 3 A330-200s[39][40]

I have a hunch that if required, Turkish Cargo would be involved. That provides an additional 21 aircraft, including 1 747 cargo plane!

We need more A400M’s in my opinion. At least double that amount. Maybe the TAF doesn’t want to project themselves too much abroad. They prefer to concentrate themselves into territories close to the country ? But even then more military airlifters are needed.

The major factor is Cost.
The A400M is too expensive.

Even the British call it unaffordable.
