Tankers of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces have implemented the experience of the Russian Armed Forces and began to equip their tanks with special "Mangals" for protection against drones. As reported, the Japanese Type 90 and Type 10 tanks received the "Mangal" protection against drones. It is worth noting that the protection installed on the Japanese tanks is symbolic, it is capable of protecting only the roof of the tank turret. The design does not protect the tank from being hit by an FPV drone. The Type 90 tank was adopted by Japan in 1992, and production of the tanks was completed in 2012. The Type 10 tank was adopted in 2012. It is planned that over time, the Type 10 tank will replace the outdated Type 74 tanks and complement the fleet of Type 90 tanks. Both tanks are equipped with a 120 mm gun, but the Type 10 tank has an automatic loader and a high degree of automation.

Japanese Type 10 tanks and Type 89 infantry fighting vehicles are equipped with anti-drone canopies to protect them from drone munitions. It's worth noting that this protection is no longer sufficient. The video shows tanks and infantry fighting vehicles from the 71st Tank Regiment and the 11th Mechanized Infantry Regiment of the Japan Self-Defense Forces during the AC-TESC exercise.
Type 10 tanks were accepted into service by the Japan Self-Defense Forces in 2012 and are equipped with a 120mm gun. Type 89 infantry fighting vehicles have been produced since 1989 and are equipped with a 35mm gun.
