TR UAV/UCAV Programs | Anka - series | Kızılelma | TB - series

[Tonyukuk]

Anka 3 currently 2 prototype being tested, no date when they will start with munition test but they are planning to first in 2024.

Nice to see an update on this program. Probably one of the top 3 most important projects. With deep strike capabilities no one can f*ck with Turkey without serious consequences.

Also good to see Kızılelma coming along nicely, hopefully we see it in the inventory before the end of the year.

I wonder how deep strike capable of stealth aircrafts ,aka anka 3,will be safe after rhe strike happened and on the way of return,if its not for nukes. They like submarines once detected its almost dead. They can not make supersonic flight but they should be fast to the limits as much as possible and they need protection from combat aircrafts manned or unmanned on their mid course of return, they are not cheap to sacrifice.Hava SOJ can bring some help to them, and they also should have self protection suits.

Well, we wouldn't just strike, for example, a facility all willy nilly, or at least I would hope so. The first target would be an enemy's air defence capabilities. And even if we did, its not like we would drop dump bombs from it. Iirc, Anka-3 can carry 2 SOM-J in its IWB, which has a range of 275 kms, assuming we use those at their proper range, there are only a handful of air defence systems that would be capable of engaging Anka-3 directly.

Imagine, in 3-4 years, the Kizilelma equipped with twin TF-10,000 or twin Al-322F engines will be able to reach Mach 1.5 speed and participate in air superiority combat exercises with the F-16 ILR. The Kizilelma is truly revolutionary, and it's exciting to imagine what it can achieve

What about Kizilwlma internal bays ??
I read so much about kizilelma but no infro about its internal weapons , range ??

Anka-3 can not carry SOM-J in it's IWB's. It can carry MK-83 bombs at most in it's current configuration. SOM-J can only be carried externally.

Then the length of the inner bay is less than 4 meters because it should be able carry 2 munitions up to 650 kgs.

Can someone draw it manned?

Would not be good having also manned version while both sharing same parts, same production line and softwares.
Mini Stealth Supersonic Fighter sounds to me reasonable.

[Radko]

Winged Mk-83 should be enough. around 60km range. Well thats why Anka-3 is stealth

[somegoodusername]

yet.

Wait for the twin-engine version.

You are only considering what Turkey will have 12-15 years from now; you are not accounting for what Turkey's competitors will have. The twin-engine Anka-3 won't be cutting-edge technology as it theoretically is today. Even the Indians will have a flying wing attack UCAV by the time the twin-engine Anka-3 is operational. Even Greeks can have access to a similar platform by then.

[Yasar_TR]

Now let’s look at the shape of our SOM-J :

This is a totally stealthy design missile. Under the belly of Anka-3 it shouldn’t increase the RCS of Anka-3 to detectable levels. It is in theory external stealthy storage boxes. It has 275km range which makes it a stand off munition. With a LOS distance of 300km and SOM-J , an Anka-3 can effectively bomb targets 550+km away.
Alternatively if flown by the second pilot of a Hurjet, (or through satcom) and if it flies for say 4 hours (it is supposed to fly for 10hours) at 450km/hr then in theory it can target surface assets nearly 2000km away.
Once it has off loaded it’s weapons, Anka-3 becomes even more invisible to radars. With a well buried in to fuselage TF6000 engine, its infra red signature should be minimised as well.

[Quasar]

As this was expected for some time, it's not as newsworthy maybe, but it shouldn't be forgotten, this is the first ever high performance UCAV. No other like it yet exists.

''No other like it yet exists.'' are the key words and very true I guess.. KIZILELMA is a testament to our unique approach Which stems from our urgent needs ''No other like it yet exists’’ may be because

1-No one yet needs a KIZILELMA as much as we do

2-No one belives that necessary autonomy for KIZILELMA is mature yet.

İn fact At this point we dont have much options We will make it up as we go along. I am almost certain that KIZILELMA has provided and will contiue to provide vital data for the future as well

TUSAŞ Offers AKSUNGUR UAV to US Border Security | TURDEF

Firm Speaking to CNN Türk, TUSAŞ CEO Mehmet Demiroğlu stated that AKSUNGUR UAV was proposed to the U.S.-based firm performing border security in FIA2024.

This is interesting!
Aksungur is being offered to US border security.
Well they are not going to find any UAV that can stay in the air for more than 41 hours and convey intelligence and surveillance, non stop day and night at that price. MILSAR is a very potent Synthetic Aperture Radar that will fit to this UAV without much hassle and help patrol border even above cloud cover.

MILSAR integrated into AKSUNGUR UAV – Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)

[Sanchez]

This is interesting!

What's also interesting is that he mentions a private firm working for border patrol, not the federal Border Patrol under Customs and Border Protection agency as being the interested party. I was unaware of CBP offloading some work to private firms to control the border.

ROKETSAN might have forgotten ANKA-3 for SOM-J ad but I didn't

[godel44]

What’s the point of Anka-3 carrying a Som-J? Being a stealth platform it can already get close enough to the target to use a variant of MK-82 whereas even Phantoms can fire SOM-J from 250+ km. We will be running out of expensive missiles like SOM quickly in a war and we will have to utilize the large stock of dumb bombs.

Being stealth is not a video game cheat code. You still get detected if you get close. Also, information on enemy radar network is rarely available. Better to have the capability to yeet a missile 250km away than not having it.

Are you serious? Just because it is stealth, which just means it is harder to detect not invisible, it doesn't mean it is okay to risk it unnecessarily. Of course we are going to give it heaviest missile it can carry with the longest range, that would make the most sense out of anything. Say Anka-3 can carry Som-J (or a new some variant that both Anka-3 and KE use) that means it can release it from 250 kms away, with a relatively low risk because there are only a handful of air defence systems that can hit it from that far away.

In comparison, even with guidance/glide kits, a MK-82 only has a range of 28 kms, which is basically asking for Anka-3 to get shot down.
