not if it is satellite controlled as the dish from the air-craft is aimed up. All they would see from the ground is random noise from the sat all over the country.

It could still be difficult to detect it even if it is not sat controlled since the drone would most likely use directed antennas.
I think you're disregarding the possibility of a hostile nation also possessing satellites that could listen for such a thing. If not that, they are going to have SIGINT planes.


Even a country that most would consider as scientifically backwards can do interesting things

The features of MIUS, where the Ukrainian production AI-25TLT Turbofan engine will be used, are expected to be as follows.

Operational Altitude: 40,000 feet
Maximum Takeoff Weight: 3.5 tons
Payload: 1 Ton
Airtime: 4-5 Hours
Travel Speed: 0.8 mach
SATCOM Data Network


Less payload than reaper still... I don't know what to feel about this.

Also no afterburner means less than ideal launch parameters for just about every missile.

At least this thing can catch up to KC135 so maybe there could be some air-refueling capability down the line.

Feel great, this is would be great asset to the airforce by given perfomances it could probably serve both indenpendently and in assisting role, composition of that one ton will be determinal about range of mission usages.
But what is more important Baykar managed once again to be ahead of the world in terms of product, along the time there will go improvements of perfomances and armaments.

Blacksea Shield company shouldn't only work 1-way for enabling Ukraine to make TB2 but in return should also make Turkey able to make certain engines (Turboprop, Turbofan) without any dependency.
While i am 100% it won't be like that because Ukraine is not willing to, then If possible, development should be parallel to turbofan engine (TF6000) of TEI. At least the SSB R&D fund should be shared to TEI among the same project to make a turbofan to power various UCAVs from different companies.

My friend, one of the gold rules in military technology is to not trust any party... not only Ukraine!
I kind of understand why Ukraine doesnt wanna sell their engine technology though. They probably feel it is unfair for them to take tb2 technology and give turkey engine technology as engine tech is more expensive and sophisticated

I think making a joiny venture with ukraine for an engine producing company in turkey to produce ukrainian engines while giving them a share of that company like around 47 percent or so.... just like in TAI

Ukrainian source who visited Baykar facility and made a reportage with Haluk Bayraktar wrote that MIUS will have a MTOW up to 5,5ton and payload of 1 ton in their pages.

Agree with Ukraine’s ambitions to integrate itself more into the west and join NATO we can see them already be easy targets from pressures from the US/EU.

And they will easily buckle under it the second they sniff the chance to be more aligned with the West.

If MIUS really is a game-changer then countries like the US will everything in its power to hinder its development and production as much as it can behind closed doors. And the easiest way to do that is to pressure the engine supplier.

TF6000 development is a must!

The MIUS is going to be equivalent in performance to the L-39NG while being a bit smaller, lower drag, more fuel capacity and lower empty weight because of lack of cockpit and thinner structural air frame which results in higher endurance, range and/or payload. The Akinci MTOW used to be 5.5 tons and is now over 6 tons. MIUS wil have the same performance creep and will take off with more than 1000 ton payload. The MIUS with an FJ-44-4M engine will be an even better performing aircraft.

Ukranian engine that powers L-39 has 3800 lbs takeoff power and L-39 has MTOW of 4700 kg.

Looks like Baykar were able to exceed these requirements by quite a bit, as the latest specs say it has MTOW of 3.5 tons with 1 ton payload.

Given/To be given;
warship production, system integration (this one is never offered by anyone) know-how,
EW know-how,
UAV production and operation know-how,

In return received, something deserves to mention?

Zaslon -> Pulat? Nope, they were hesitant to share some core-tech,only provided very basic know-how and project got delayed a year or more because domestic companies had to pull out what Ukraine has not provided, rejected to provided despite of the agreement made in MOI.

PYAS, they supposed to give some know-how, in the end, someone has pressured them and they provided none again not much respected to the MOU, and rejected to provided core-tech.

Yes i know they don't have much else than the engine technology and giving it out means they will become a disposable partner, however this also means they don't much trust in Turkey that far.

It is pretty much unfair on Turkey's side to be honest, nobody gives UAV production-design know-how along with fast-training in operation techniques and EW deployment to support the UAV operations on a golden platter. This is as much as precious as the engine technology.

I’m thinking that the increase in LOS range to 300 km is a result of Ukranian contribution.

Does the digital camo pattern on MIUS indicate that it won't be a stealth drone? Or have I misunderstood that the stealth coating has to be grey/black?
