Ukraine considering buying missile defense system similar to Israel's Iron Dome

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry is considering purchasing a missile defense system similar to Israel's Iron Dome, according to Defense Minister Andrii Taran.

He said this during his visit to the Motor Sich enterprise in Zaporizhia on May 18, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"Recent developments in Israel have shown the need for missile defense in our country. I would like to note that the Iron Dome is one of the best examples of missile defense, but it is only one of the components of missile defense. Last year, we started certain actions to create a missile defense system for Ukraine. We are considering buying something like the Iron Dome," Taran said.

I know it says Iron Dome-like but do we know anything about the performance of such system against more sophisticated targets from a real army. I'm thinking how is Iron Dome performing against super sonic ballistic missiles, low flying cruise missiles, small guided bombs like MAM-L or small suicide drones like Kargu/Alpagu. These are some of the threat that Ukraine is facing.

Seeing last weeks action against unguided relatively slow home-made missiles from Hamas can hardly be a good test for modern threats that Ukraine is facing. I'm think a traditional layered SAM solution aimed at the threats that Ukraine is facing is better. This will of course include short range missile defense but maybe based on CIWS-solution as Iron Dome Tamer missile did not seem to have very long range anyway (Jerusalem Post indicate 6-7km effective range in some old article).

Keep in mind that Iron Dome cost about $30-50M while i'm guessing that Korkut can be had for $1-5M.

Some strategic locations such as nuclear power plants will probably need Iron Dome + CIWS solutions but most military based seem to better served with CIWS.
