The food concern Unilever is this year in the "global top ten of anti-Semitism" that the Simon Wiesenthal Center publishes every year. The food concern Unilever is this year in the "global top ten of anti-Semitism" that the Simon Wiesenthal Center publishes every year.

The Jewish human rights organization condemns the decision by Unilever brand Ben & Jerry's in July to stop selling ice cream in Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory.

The ice cream brand was present in Israel through a company that produces the ice creams under license.

From the end of 2021, the ice creams would only be sold in Israel, but no longer in the occupied West Bank.

Ben and Jerry's called its product sales not in line with the company's values.

The issue is about more than just ice, according to the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

The organization claims that Unilever is enabling the "immoral and illegal boycott" of Ben & Jerry's.

The ice cream producer is said to hate Israel and be anti-Semitic, according to the human rights organization, which finds that Unilever business leaders are "letting it happen".

The Ben & Jerry's brand is owned by Unilever, but has extensive autonomy and an activist image.

Ben & Jerry's is known for its commitment to social justice.

For example, the ice cream brand recently championed the Black Lives Matter movement, LGBTQ+ rights and electoral finance reform.

Ben & Jerry's operates more independently than other Unilever companies

Unilever bought the ice cream maker in 2000, with the agreement that the company could operate more independently than other companies within the group.

For example, an independent board at Ben & Jerry's is empowered to make decisions about the company's social goals, brand integrity and policies.

Unilever is in tenth place on the list announced by the Simon Wiesenthal Center.

At the top is Iran, because of the regime the organization says is the "greatest existential threat to the Jewish people".

The Palestinian movement Hamas, the British BBC, the comparison between corona policy and the Holocaust, social media such as Telegram, TikTok and Facebook and German government policy are also in the top ten of the human rights organization.

The Israeli center actually has a anti-Semitic barometer.
