w r t China, tread carefully, its a big power and will continue to be big until at least the end of the century. We couldn't afford the cocky foreign policy like that of Europe to Russia, where tiny countries in the Baltics could raise its voice against a nuclear armed country without fearing any retaliation.
Unless its becoming obvious that China will collapse and somehow lose its economic and military clout...play safe, avoid putting us into a single camp where there's no binding security guarantee.
If China is on the brink of collapse, declare hostility...if China wins and somehow US influence recede, cooperate until sufficiently strong to hit back.
