U.S. Strategic Command: China engaged in ‘breathtaking’ nuclear breakout

China is engaged in what the U.S. Strategic Command calls “nuclear breakout” in developing large numbers of missiles, warheads and other strategic warfighting capabilities.

“We are witnessing a strategic breakout by China,” Stratcom commander Adm. Charles Richard said Thursday.

“The explosive growth in their nuclear and conventional forces can only be what I describe as breathtaking,” he said at a conference in Alabama, adding that, “frankly, that word ‘breathtaking’ may not be enough.”

Adm. Richard noted that there are two new missile fields being constructed in western China as part of the build that will include more than 100 nuclear land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles.

“Nuclear breakout” is not easily defined, but the four-star admiral said the threat it poses is significant.

The Chinese are rapidly building up nuclear forces and have resisted U.S. calls to join existing nuclear arms control treaties. The build-up includes nuclear missiles armed with multiple warheads, precision-strike weapons and six new nuclear submarines with new JL-3 missiles, hypersonic missiles capable of evading U.S. missile defenses.

Beijing also is moving its forces to a higher readiness status and no longer appears to be engaged in so-called
“minimum deterrence.”

China‘s production of intercontinental ballistic missiles is “explosive,” the admiral said, noting commercial satellite imagery identifying the two new missile fields in western China. Each field, he said, “has nearly 120 ICBM silos.”

The new missile silos add to existing ICBMs deployed by China in silos and scores of road-mobile long-range missiles. Adm. Richard suggested there are additional missile fields for new solid-fuel ballistic missiles under construction.

“If you enjoy looking at commercial satellite imagery or stuff in China, can I suggest you keep looking,” he said.

As to Beijing’s intentions, Adm. Richard said “it really doesn’t matter why China continues to modernize.”

“What matters is they are building the capability to execute any plausible nuclear employment strategy – the last brick in the wall of a military capable of coercion ,” he said.

To deter China from using its nuclear and conventional forces for coercion, Adm. Richard said new concepts of deterrence are needed, along with modernized U.S. nuclear forces.

“Business as usual will not work,” he said.

Russia also is modernizing its nuclear forces and poses a significant threat to the United States, Adm. Richard said, noting Moscow’s recent development of advanced nuclear missiles and an underwater nuclear-armed torpedo.

Its only breathtaking because the Americans have done nothing to counter it, other than a short trade war which was working.

I have looked into China for just 5 months and I can see that there is a lot the Americans or English Civilization could be doing to defeat the China, which they aren't doing, they are doing everything to enable the Chinese to overtake the English civilization.

Much like the British did basically nothing to counter the Americans in the last century.

China is now in the dominant position in the South China sea, allowing it to protect out of that sea into the wider oceans. They have control over the world's manufacturing and industrial base. They have 1.5 billion people, which they are exporting around the world and colonizing other peoples demographically. If the English civilization took step this expansion could be slowed and defeated. Basically the entire rise of China has been enabled by the western nations being subjugated under criminal class.

I bet most of these American military people haven't read unrestricted warfare, I bet most of them haven't read William S Lind or Van Creveld, most of them are political activists for the criminal class at this point. China isn't a strong as people believe, they know this, the English civilization isn't a weak as people think it is, its being held down by the Chinese-banking cartel-foreign peoples-criminal class within the English civilization. China doesn't mess with South Korea or Japan or Russia, it messes with the smaller-poorer-weak countries around it.

Also the guy is just looking for more pointless money or stupid concepts which don't work, but cost billions to figure out they don't work. To the neglect of conventional and understand concepts which will cripple the Chinese strategy of unrestricted warfare. Can anyone name one successful US military concept which hasn't ended up costing tens of billions and causing a massive strategic whole, which than has to be filled with more conventional concepts? The stealth bomber-US has had to keep the B-52 operational. The F-22 and F-35-the US is building new F-15's and F-16's. The LCS and Zumwalt class-US is building a new Italian frigate and new build Arleigh Burkes. So that's 100 billion down the drain for nothing.

Actually it's the west which is not as strong as people think, when Trump decided to sanction China, many people panicked even in China, they false over estimanted the economic might of US and vastly underestimated China's, now couples of years passed and we all realised the west is just a paper tiger, it can do nothing to slow down China. The myth is debunked.

Not really. The US Trump war was about 18 months, in which time the Chinese had to release a 5th generation warfare virus on the US and had to support the criminal class in the US to stop Trump getting reelected. It also takes 2-4 year for trade to re-route to another place in a defined manner. As we will see with Brexit the trade will take 2-4 years to re-route. In which time the British will take steps to limit the damage. At the end of which Britain will be in a much stronger position, given that it is an importer, and importing stuff is moving money out of your economy into other peoples economy. The US had the same problem with China. If Trump had been re-elected, then right now we would be seeing jobs and industry return to the US from China, we would see Chinese companies being shut out of the US market, and US companies shut out of the Chinese market. On paper this is bad for the US, but in reality it would see China losing tech and entertainment exports and the US gaining material and industrial jobs returning to the US. The US would lose nothing of worth and the Chinese would lose a percentage of the industrial base they have built up.

Now would this cripple China, not at all. That was never going to happen. It didn't happen when you were much weaker and fighting the English civilization to a stand still in Korea when you were comparatively weak. Would have meant China wouldn't be able to unleash unrestricted warfare in the US. That's the point any engagement with China at this point is just another aspect of unrestricted warfare. Now if the west in terms of UK/Australia/Canada/New Zealand/Japan all did a trade war with China, along with the US, that would damage China. If all those place repatriated the Chinese within their lands back to China, that would damage the Chinese. If the US turned Russia, and became allied with Russia, that would hurt China.

However would any of this cripple the Chinese and stop them rising, no. The English civilization hasn't taken the steps it needs to take, so people perceive it as weak compared to China, but it isn't. Its simply that China will do what it needs to do, the west because it is run by the banking cartel/foreign peoples/the criminal class refuses to take those actions. Much like what happened to China when it was going through the Opium wars and the scramble for China from the European powers.
