the same logic could explain why Taliban kept sending those supposed pic of advances in Panjshir despite no internet in the area.
Even if they capture the area, what's the big deal. They already control 95% of the country anyway.

Cud be.. at the end of day Taliban is a forum of convenience for various factions gelled by common hate for USA ... Now that is met... every body would want to be the master... unfortunately, there can be only one there!!!!!!!!

It doesn;t help that they have a militia to feed, it;s a known secret that those fighters are on payroll and get paid monthly.. they want their war spoils..

ground reports that this time they are no different .. just that media management and chest thumping is less ....

there are several factions, for starters:

1.Salafist, mostly in the Haqqani network
2.Hanafists
3.Islamist but confine their jihad on Afghanistan own border.
4.Islamist but would go for international Jihad.
5.People who's not any of those but joined the group after experiencing US abuse during the occupation.

point 3 and 4 have a significant amount of their own supporters. and it's only a matter of time when they run for each other throat.

People did forgot that ISIS was once part of Al-Qaeda before difference in views and methodology forced them to be kicked out of Al-Qaeda. The same scenario could happen in Afghanistan between their own.

yeah I think at this point it is guaranteed that Taliban will take over the whole country physically anyway. The resistance could only do so much with what little they have.

But it's interesting to use peoples logic against their own.

Unoffical news that Pakistan's DG Faiz Hamid of ISI is now in Kabul, Afghanistan in talks with Taliban. This should cause a right s***storm in some capitals.
