How many ships/subs and types needed to protect our LHD?
As the saying goes: How long is a piece of string?
It all depends on the level of protection we want to give to this ship.
You would need at least a TD2000, an I class frigate, a Milgem corvette, a Reis class sub. Ideally two of each.
But then again it can be fitted with self defensive weapons like the Japanese Destroyers/LHDs . But would still need escorts to provide protection.

Look at PLANs type 75 LHD that has 4 HQ-10 launchers and two 30mm CIWS.

So firstly we will have to put 4 Gökdeniz ER and 2 Gökdeniz 35mm CIWS:)

IMHO SIPER-N would be great for TCG ANADOLU.

You are referring to Anadolu? Then 1 TF-2000 and / or 2 I - Class (or Barbaros) and 1 submarine would be sufficient with her current configuration. If equipped with F-35B or any other strategic asset then the TF-2000 will be compulsory.

Trakya ,however, will definitely need 1 / 2 TF-2000 and 2 I-Class or Barbaros and 1 Reis or Milden at least.

Anadolu will have;
2 Nazar DIRCM
2 Phalanx
1 RAM - like system

Referring to Anadolu. You think 1 TF-2000 is enough to cover it? If I look at US LPD, much more ships are covering one LPD. Even more subs (2). At least protection ships need long range ADS like missiles and Radar, which Barbaros and I-Class will not have.

UK protects QEII with 1 AAW Destroyer, 1 ASW Frigate and Submarine.

If you are referring to a strike group for force projection, across the blue waters then surely you will need more. But what kind of power you can project with Anadolu if it is not equipped with F35s like US's LHAs do?.

I class with Siper Block-1 missile will be sufficient to protect TCG Anadolu in its current configuration.

İsmail DEMİR: “We are planning to put LHD ANATOLIA into service first as it was in its Original Design.”

Noting that they are planning to deliver LHD Anadolu in the first quarter of 2022, DEMİR said, "We are working to make it early in 2022. We thought that it would be possible to make some of the detailed equipment of the ship during the service. We're pushing to see if it might be a little sooner for him. But of course, the project regarding the deployment of UAVs and SİHAs on the ship continues. We have a plan to put our ship into service as it was in its original design, to mature the work of BAYRAKTAR TB3 and integrate them into the ship when it is ready,” he said.

I have kept telling this for years while some people were launching MIUS from Anadolu in 2023.

Navy's primary goal is to master LHD capabilities of Anadolu, it may even be deployed at a theatre. The deal made for Cobras and possibly for Cougars of Land Forces are also related to this.

The other capabilities will be inducted after 2024 or 2025 depending on the major maintenance schedule of the ship.

I seem to remember that the license holder Navantia wants to deliver the ship and see it operate in it’s contractual state. Whatever is going to be added will have to be done after Navy’s full acceptance And if and when the Navy allows it.

If that was the case the ship would remain in the dry dock after acceptance and continue to receive the modifications, also if i remember clearly the contractor is Sedef shipyard. So the negotiation would have been done with them.

The first major overhaul is done in 2.5-3 years also fits better to development and test schedule of the TB-3 and launch-recovery systems on land. The design will also require the Turkish Lloyd approval after being completed, before installation and modification of the deck-hull.

I might have seen Nazar on Anadolu, but it was from far and the position is less-likely so it could be something else.

At least they have done scrapping once more and started first layer of the coating of the hull, the weather is clean and perfect for painting, supperstructure is possibly receiving the second layer of the coating.

@Knowledgeseeker may provide some additional information, especially, at least the source article from MAP.
They are mixing an LST/LCT with the LHD.
Or they have signed an agreement for acquiring a new LHD based on Anadolu with Navantia & Sedef consortium.
Maghreb Arab News Agency is a propaganda fake website that spreads BS all over the net, Even within the Spanish press there are a lot of mercenaries working for Morocco.
Do you think 500 million dollar will save the Turkish lira?

Wish the news was true😂 The moroccan navy have a far way to go.
Believe me it is much better if they order a vessel fresh for themselves instead of getting a ship built and customized for another customer. You will never be happy with someone else's solution and it will always be missing one leg and arm. Telling this apart from the fact that, Turkish Navy is not even close, or crossing it from their mind to sell TCG Anadolu. :)

Spanish Foro Naval comes with a strange "news" or article about the possibility of TCG Anadolu sale to Morocco.

It might be great if it is true. TCG Anadolu is a good vessel and we can build a new drone mothership with Navantia that will be designed especially for drones.

Honestly, regardless of what other ppl say, selling TCG Anadolu rn would be one of the greatest mistakes ever committed by the Turkish Navy and the ruling AKP

You don't see where I am going; given the chance we should get rid of the old ship and have a ship that is up to the latest requirements. We have the drone planes now and we have a lot of operational and design flexibility for a mothership. It is highly likely that we can do away with an amphibious capable ship now.
I know where you are going and with a mindset like that you'd leave our Navy stuck with vessels that are better left retired. Ada class goes back 90's and if it were up to you we'd move on to newer designs and scrap the ones we have.

I'm not going to talk about F35B because we pretty much know that with planes like those Anadolu would have been much better asset in our hands.

I don't think it's correct to sell Naval assets until you have delivered an alternative to the Navy. Which means it's sailing and TN has accepted it. Until then I'd consider any action selling naval assets as treason.
