Its amazing to me how well Putin understands his nations recent history. He understands the threat to Russia isn't from military defeat or invasion, but the removal of the Russian ruling class and it being replaced by foreigners. This is what the Russians ruling class has set the red lines and is actively intervening all of the place to maintain stable states.
