If Russia were to use just one tactical nuke on Ukraine, countless nations of the world would rush to get nuclear weapons. For example the Russians have on several occasions threatened to nuke Turkey, they threatened to nuke Azerbaijan recently, they have threatened to invade various other central Asian Turkic states. This nuclear talk so far is perceived as no more then a dog barking, however if they did use one in Ukraine. It then becomes imperative for a nation like Turkey to have her own nuclear arsenal. Irrespective of how western nations would threaten Turkey not to get them, the risk of Russia nuking Istanbul or Ankara means Turks would have no choice.

Just like invading Ukraine caused many nations to rush to join NATO and to rearm, one tactical nuke will cause many nations to go nuclear.

So their big strategic advantage, is the threat of using nukes. But the moment they use one, they will within a decade have lost that advantage against the nations she threatens. Because no one knowing there is a serious chance they could be nuked, will not look to level the playing field.
In the future, nuclear non-proliferation will be considered one of the greatest policy mistakes of the 20th century. Those who wanted to get them, got them through other means anyway and those that followed the rules found themselves defenseless.

A fascinating future prediction, half-witted leaders with a red-button on their desk that says “push here when push comes to shove”!!!
EDIT: I have a hunch that this will be refered to as a “greatest policy failure”, not as a “mistake”…

Do people assume that megalomaniacs have no sense of self-preservation? Even bonafide nutjobs like Jeffrey Dahmer had that.

You are talking about a J. Dahmer, the serial killer, I presume. I am with you, his acts were driven by emotional instincts, but not self-preservation, but a strong urge to kill…

Correct me , Ukraine has two branches operated Tb2 Bayraktar, their Navy and Air Force command. And this one most likely from the Navy inventory

Zelensky criticized Turkey and Greece for creating new routes for Russian tourists.

"Turkey is playing double game" the little comedian said.

what is amazing is, the way fast atack crafts maneuver MAY indicate that they are aware of the fact that they are being targeted by TB2 and trying to avoid it but with no avail. if they were not aware of the existance of TB2 it is even worst. Further, MAM L is such an incredibly efective and suprisingly agile ammunition

Zoka200 twitter page you have Russians, Serbs, Indians, Iranians, Arabs and Armenians celebrating a TB2 getting downed 🤣

Before Erdogan used every opportunity to insult India, we didnt have really have this problem. AK party is the primary reason why so many indians online hate Turkey. Turkey has a great relationship with Pakistan and Bangaldesh, instead of provoking the Pakistan/India Kashmir difference, Turkey should have been doing everything to resolve it. You would then have a non-white bloc of close to 2 billion people that would support Turkey.

As for the rest of the nations, they have an inherent hate and dislike of Turks because of historically all being conquered by Turks and for some reason they unable to move on from it.

Many Arabs are anti- American and see the war in Ukraine as a war against the West. Plus many in the Arab world hate Turks too.

Let me clarify some fact before ignorance promoted by the this comment become normal

most of the arabs are extremely happy with whats going on with russia and we enjoy watching russian pigs getting slaughtered . the only reason why is because of what russia did in Syria and the massacre they did to them , same situation with Chechnya .

if we look at those arabs who supports the russian invasion are mostly declared and committed to russia . let me count them for you :

1- Algeria ( russia is their biggest ally + arms importer + against morocco )
2- Lebanon ( only Hezbollah supporters )
3- Syria ( Asad pig regime )
4- Iraq ( Shia Militia )

in general the muslims hate russia and the US , but in this case we stand with Ukraine against Russia . And if one day Nato clashed with russia we only hope for the safety of Turkey only and why not fighting with them if they ask for it . and for US & Russia they shall burn each other and one one will give a fuck .

and for this sentiment ( arab hate Turks ) .. this is a cheap way to get the approval of the turkish members here .

No question, personally I don't believe that NATO would escalate into nuclear exchanges if russia was to use a tac-nuke on Ukrainian soil against Ukrainian targets. The situation would obviously be different if they used a nuke against a NATO country. The stakes for a symmetrical escalation would be way way too high, especially since NATO lack any tactical nuclear options. Any retaliation would have to be on Ukrainian soil as well I think, rather than a direct nuclear attack on russia. So the response would only serve to make a good chunk of the east uninhabitable.
Now you could do what the west traditionally does, launch a barrage of tomahawks at select locations such as command and control bunkers or depots to match the level of destruction, but it would have to be a *very* careful high wire act as to not drag NATO into a war it obviously doesn't want to fight (with good reason).

The purpose of a nuke would not be to scare NATO, it would be to shatter Ukrainian morale and resistance, somewhat like the bombs over japan.

The Russians are fighting on Ukrainian soil after all, and showing that you are willing to sow the ground with salt, in a way that can't be countered by the Ukrainian forces would be devastating. Aside from taking out a big chunk of the army.
NATO said, it will not intervene even Russia nuke Ukraine.
