TAF will buy 7 Atmaca coastal defense missile batteries from Roketsan. Each battery will have 3 launch vehicles with 4 missiles each which means 12 ready-to-fire missiles per battery and 84 total ready-to-fire missiles. I expect an order of 168 missiles(84+84 for reload) plus several training missiles.

Total Atmaca-based (ship, coastal, and land) missile orders will most likely exceed a thousand in the long run.
everything is possible but most probably each battery with 2 launch vehicles may/will be the case, similar to Harpoon or MBDA Exocet costal defence system structure.

He said that he heard from someone else and that guy said that it is a rumour
True. But even if that news is certain, I don't think any journalist can announce it in the current political environment. "The government's favorite company BMC could not even make the simplest diesel engine." If this is heard, the opposition will use it to the end as the elections are very close. LOL

I think that news is certain, but the journalist is revealing it indirectly.

What do you do if you can not pull something off immediately, do you just give it up and kill the effort or keep on trying. What makes you think BMC has failed the effort. I highly doubt your allegation that BMC did not carry the project through to success.

The two biggest newspapers and the biggest channels in Turkey are anti-government, opposition channels. They do whatever they want. They wouldn't have left such an opportunity.

Which ones are they exactly? It seems you have not been in Turkey long time.

It might be but the classic Turkish battery structure is 3 launch vehicles per battery. Hisar-A, Hisar-O, modernized AAA cannons, artillery, and SPA all of those have 3 vehicles per battery. Besides Atmaca coastal is built on a distributed architecture similar to Turkish air-defense batteries so 3 launch vehicles per battery is more logical as it can cover a wider area when the launchers are distributed over the theater.

So Atmaca KARA & Atmaca Coastal is the same missile ?
@TheInsider

No. Atmaca-Coast is a variant of Atmaca developed in line with the demands of Turkish Navy as a result of the events that took place in the Eastern Mediterranean in 2020.
Kara-Atmaca is a long range land based precision strike cruise missile developed to increase the ground strike capability of Turkish Land Forces.

What I mean The capabilities of both missiles and even customers are also different.

Kara(Land) Atmaca is heavier(890kg vs 750kg) has more range (officially disclosed as 280km, estimated ~500km), and has an engine with more thrust(KTJ-3700). Coastal(Kıyı) Atmaca is the same Atmaca missile with an IIR seeker.

Is it correctly understood that Kara is a ground to ground missile?
also does Aymara coastal have ground attack capability?

Previously, the missile has already been tested, the result of hitting it in the photo, according to the Turkish side, the missiles are not very susceptible to the effects of most electronic warfare systems. The ground installation of the complex has four launch containers and is placed on the chassis of the Russian KamAZ (8X8). The new Atmaca rocket is subsonic and is equipped with a Safran (Turbomeca) TR140 turbojet engine and a solid rocket booster. In the future, the rocket engine will be replaced by a Turkish small-sized KALE 3500 turbojet engine. The warhead of the rocket is a high-explosive fragmentation unit weighing 250 kg. The missile is equipped with an active radar seeker, as well as an inertial satellite guidance unit and two-way data transmission equipment. During the flight, the missile can be given new targets to hit. The missile range is 250 kilometers, weight -750 kg. Rocket length from 4.3 - 5.2 m.

So it is already causing some ripple across the Black Sea!
I hear an export ban is on Russian agenda, on the Kamaz 8X8…

We may expect Turkish Navy to adapt KARA ATMACA as ship-based LACM in future too, they will keep the diameter same if i see it correctly and it can be still bundled in quad and installed such way on frigates, the mount point would support that extra weight. ATMACA IIR may take these duties as well with some additional modification, while KARA ATMACA carrying a bigger wayhead with dedicated LACM capabilities like contour matching, terrain hugging etc., guidance capabilities for longer ranges.

It doesn't necessarily mean ATMACA IIR will be purely land based, we may also expect Navy to use this missile on FACs for surprise harbor attacks or sneaking around the islands.

Are we still expecting for Block II ATMACA to have an hybrid seeker and extended range?
Or is Block II just to denote capability to be launched submersed ?

I don't think Block-II is merely denoting a submarine-launched version.
I am still expecting it with a hybrid-seeker to maximize the performance in the terminal phase, but logically it should be bundled with more features. Maybe they are going to call the supersonic or ER one Block-II?

I know it is poor speculation but after GOKHAN it is safe to assume ( and I am hoping) that the next missile that we see will be a ramjet powered supersonic air launched anti-ship missile with active / passive radar composite seeker, something very similar to japan' s ASM 3.

Who knows We may keep the hybrid-seeker for subsonic missiles like ATMACA and ÇAKIR?

Meanwhile, still waiting for Bora Antiship. Real or rumour guess we will learn at İdef
These kind of weapons are strategical, may not be brought out just for political reasons (to show off in aegean encounters).

Guess what will be the "bayram şekeri" for tomorrow & sunday. ? I am wondering too.

Even a minister had commented about what it could do. He’d said something along the lines of forgetting about elections etc if we’d known what it could do.
Also as I had mentioned before about our @Cabatli_53 ’s post in another life regarding this missile. It was dated October 2019. So a lot of water has flown under that bridge since then.

We can only speculate that it is probably at least as good as it is mentioned in that post. If they kept the diameter same, and increased the length to give it more fuel capacity, it is most likely a circa 500km range missile with a seeker head capable of hitting moving sea objects. That would put all sea Navigation East of Crete under Turkish control. As the terminal speed of this missile is very high, it wouldn’t need a lot of explosive weight to inflict deadly damage to ships. Also as it is almost a 90degree dive missile it is fairly difficult to intercept. Especially under multiple attack form.
