I really doubt Ukraine will retake kherson tbh. They have been saying such things for the last 2 months already. The fact that Russians leave such settlements only when they are 90% destroyed proves how ineffective the Ukrainians are in retaking lost territory. The only area which Ukrainians have proved themselves in is stalling the enemy which isnt sufficient against a nation like Russia
I kept reading reports on how they were going to liberate kherson from the filthy russian orcs by the end of August and yet only small villages were liberated with no significant change in the line of contact. While Ukraine may take years to liberate kherson, the Russians are slowly kicking the natives and are replacing them with Russians from the poorer regions of the federation
This war clearly showed that while we live in an era of Quality, tons of quantity is just as effective. When Ukraine destroys a filthy russian battalion group, Putin just replaces it with 4 more battalion groups. Reports indicate that around 15K Russian soldiers are in kherson staying deeply dug trenches and are refusing to easily leave while they are maing gains in the south (albeit small). The moment Russia controls all of Luhansk and Donetsk, I expect all the Russian forces to group and attack Kharkiv and then Mykolaiv all the while Ukraine still cant even break the first and second defensive lines across most of the lines of contact in kherson
It is trully horrific, but as time passes, I feel that the final laugh will go to Putin
