Sungur manpads export deal about to be signed.

Roketsan started to receive requests from abroad for the SUNGUR Shoulder-Launched Air Defense Missile System (MANPADS). Türkiye is exporting MANPADS for the first time.

SUNGUR, one of the world's leading 5th generation MANPAD systems, was developed by Roketsan and its delivery to the Turkish Armed Forces recently started. SUNGUR is among the most advanced MANPADS in the world, thanks to its IIR Seeker Head and high range and altitude values. Demands for SUNGUR started to come from abroad.

In a statement made to DefenseSanayiST.com by Roketsan General Manager Murat İki regarding the issue, “SUNGUR is a product with a very high export potential. We receive requests regarding SUNGUR from many parts of the world. We would like to market SUNGUR not only as a MANPAD but also as a product that can be integrated into platforms, because SUNGUR is a very good solution, especially for the air defense of convoys.

It has a good potential for both land platforms and naval platforms. Export activities related to this have reached the final stage. We strive to meet the needs of many countries in this field.

Video of the Interview:

The main products we are exhibiting here are the HİSAR and SİPER family launched via MİDLAS, which we have integrated into naval platforms. We estimate that these, along with the MİDLAS product, will be among the products that will constitute a large part of the Turkish defense industry's exports in the following stages. For this reason, we are carrying out very serious work on the integration of MİDLAS into existing platforms, especially in the Far East. We aim to complete these as soon as possible and contribute to Roketsan's exports.” statements were included.

Developed by Roketsan with the experience gained from the HİSAR and Stinger projects, SUNGUR has mobile shooting capability, day and night target detection, identification, tracking and 360-degree shooting capabilities. SUNGUR, which has the capacity to use an Imaging Infrared (IIR) Seeker Head with a range of 8 kilometers, is described as the fourth generation MANPADS due to its superior features.

SUNGUR Missile can penetrate targets at an altitude of 4 to 4.5 kilometers.

SUNGUR Missile has a very high hit percentage due to its use of IIR Seeker Head. It is among the most modern MANPADS in the world. SUNGUR Missile is not just about hit percentage; It also ranks first in terms of range and altitude limits.

It is estimated that in the near future, Roketsan will develop an air-to-air missile system based on the SUNGUR Missile. In addition, a close air defense missile system to be used on naval platforms via the SUNGUR Missile is being developed within the scope of the LEVENT Project.

It's also on the Portuguese tender.

This has been going on for near a decade, horrible program so far and they probably don't have the money for Iris-T. Will be interesting.

• Qatar will be added to the countries where ADVENT Network Supported Data Integrated Battle Management System is exported.
HAVELSAN General Manager Mehmet Akif Nacar;
• We see a good future in Qatar. We have completed our 10 years here. We think that there may be these opportunities in Qatar in another 10, 20 years.
• We will give ADVENT to the Qatar Navy for the first time in the assault boat project signed with DEARSAN.
• The parachute simulator can be used in training centers in Qatar. We believe that we will be able to make progress in unmanned solutions in the coming period.

Thanks but still doesn't make sense. Baykar's TB2 sales alone in 2023 were greater than 1.6bn

That number is the percentage of the world arms exports that every country holds not the number in billions.

So Turkey's share is 1,6%.
South Korea's 2%.
Israel is 2.4% and etc.

Ah thanks - missed that. but even when you look at the underlying absolute numbers, their method seems way off.
