From the February 2024 edition of Jalasena PPAL magazine, Navantia is offering the F-110 as destroyer (or Frigate?)

I know it's for the future, but don't underestimate the promotions that come from this magazine, because the BHO 105m ocean going and Submarine Rescue Vessel signs came from this magazine before becoming public a few months later.

Ignoring the disconnect between the main title and the caption (frigate - destroyer). it's now known that at least two types are being considered: Type 052D and F-110.

Dare I say that the contenders will probably also include the Mogami class...

Spain, earlier, submitted F-110 for Turkish Navy's TF-2000 project but it hasn't much attracted the Navy personnel at the R&D office.

With or without AN/SPY and Aegis?
So much US stuff in this ship btw.
Even if Spain offered it, we still need US green light.

A bit off-topic:

Sometimes, things like this make me wonder whether abandoning our neutrality and fully aligning with the US would be a wiser choice...
But afterwards, I just got a hunch that while fully aligning with either side might seem less troublesome in the immediate future, the long-term consequences could be considerably worse for us. I can't explain this very well, I'm afraid.

Back to the topic:

If we stick to our current approach by maintaining closer defence relations with the US and the West while maintaining closer trade ties with China, those US-made gadgets and sensors might not be too far out of our reach. Of course, this still depends on who's running the US administration.

Its fine to keep our navy European Oriented.

I don't think fully aligning to US now will be good. We are in Asia and China is geographically closer to us and they are on the rise. We will live not to far from them even in the future, as for US. Idk, its like they are almost nearing the end of their reign and who know if they will stay and care about Asia or just turn tail and run and abandoning their former "allies".
Better to keep the status quo.

Keeping status quo doesn't always means making our armed forces having and operating gado-gado stuff. As long as we good at balancing our politics and economics relation it should be fine if we lean towards one side over another.

IMO it's the Philippines, followed by Viet Nam that will bear the brunt of any Beijing misadventure. Our response should be based on how devastating the war is for those 2 countries is + what will be American commitment to defend (especially the Philippines).
