Yep, thats probably why Azerbaijan went for JF-17
There is no evidence that Azerbaijan’s JF-17 Block 3 will have Turkish subsystems. It may be possible, it’s just that there is no source about it. Random sites or twitter accounts do not count.
Moreover, integrating new subsystems would probably delay their delivery by few years. It makes little sense.
As for reasons for why Azerbaijan went for JF-17 Block 3, altough in lightweight category they are still quite capable with AESA and BVR missiles, the political relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan and the decision to expand defence ties based on that. Plus the Pakistani airforce must have aggressively marketed them to Azerbaijani airforce for years, but it’s clear that Azerbaijan was not interested in previous Blocks as they were not considered a real upgrade over Mig-29. Block 3 is a more significant upgrade.
Their acquisition also do not exclude the possibility of procurement of different weight class of aircraft down the line.
