Azerbaijan Armenia Tensions

Some of them were successfully used in active combat. I don't see a reason why Azerbaijan wouldn't fill its lost arsenal and even enlarge it with the captured equipment. There are a lot of tanks and APCs for example that are fully intact or other that needs repair and are ready for service. It will be a sin to throw them away like that. Also another possibility is that all or some of the equipment is sold to other countries that needs them.
I would vote for selling them to other countries. This war has shown that these soviet coffins offer little to no added military value to a battle. Fielding AFVs without thermal optics and APS is suicidal these day with the vast proliferation of ATGMs and UAVs.

Some of them Azerbaijan will keep (upgraded t-72s and air defence). The rest would make good use with our allies in Syria and Libya.

Yes but I believe Azerbaijan only goes back to full time peace mode when it has all of N-K reclaimed or signed permanent peace (and hopefully a longer term normalisation path) with Armenia in some other agreement.

Till then the (captured + refurbished) equipment at very least makes up good reserve war material if there is not a present short - mid term use, need or capacity to absorb them in the azeri military for active duty.

Azeris will also have to work up some newer paradigms/aces up sleeve in warfare past drones (which are now revealed) as Armenians (and Russians) clearly will game that in from this point forward.

Anyway it will be interesting bunch of years (and decade at large) coming up, let us see.

Yah I would definitely go beef up arsenal or reserves rather than selling to other countries.

These will not fetch much on foreign markets compared to their utility for Azeris directly

There is also the positive morale for Azeri forces to harness by having these around...or spread a demoralisation on Armenians by marking these a different way and showing them now and then etc. Azeri psy-ops, lets see how it goes. These things don't have directly accessible monetary value....the larger world of Esprit de corps...
If I were Azerbaijan, I would discard the soviet-era weapons they now use and go full Turkish/Western and the most modern eastern designs. Thermal imagers and APS on everything motorized and beef up the SHORAD with new systems, capable of defending against small commercial drones all the way to MALE UAVs. (Lasers, 40mm airbust, Korkut and Hisar)

It depends on funding and needs. These all cost money (and you have to factor in likely use or what capacity you want to develop...and how you spend vs save regarding that).

Also have to factor in diverting fund here compared to developing economy and investments elsewhere etc...so you can fund later military/security/diplomacy more sustainably.

Everyone is kind of on tight budget these days. Small countries especially cannot get it wrong...even if they are fairly energy rich like Azerbaijan.

I'd rather see Azerbaijan take a stake in BMC, TR Motor or any other enterprise. That way they would not just be customers.
