In a video from 5 years ago, which has been going viral again after the 12-day war between Israel and Iran, the former intelligence minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Younesi) predicts the assassination of senior officials and attributes Israel's influence in Iran to Iran's new parallel Intelligence agencies and preoccupation of these agencies with following and silencing critics and dissidents instead of focusing on threats from intelligence agencies of adversaries, and then says the following:
"All over the world, it is always easier for intelligence agencies to infiltrate fanatical and fundamentalist parties, organizations and extremist groups. Because the criteria for promotion within ISIS, Al -qaeda and all extremist groups is to prove your loyalty and commitment by just being more extreme. Talking like them, adopting their style, practicing their rituals is enough for them to accept you. This is a source of power for them, but it makes them easy prey for influence. That is, every espionage and intelligence organization finds diseased and extremist elements and infiltrates extremist organizations and the faster these elements become more extremist, the faster they are promoted and gain power within these systems where promotion criteria is showing loyalty and dedication to the ideology rather than competence; it is all very easy that way."
