The Russians have been trying to reach the warm southern seas for 300 years. They've waged several wars here with Turkey, Iran, and Afghanistan, even reaching Pakistan. But they've failed each time.
Of course, we wanted to unite with South Azerbaijan.

But the problem is actually quite complex: Iran's disunity and weakening are dangerous for us, not just for the Persians. If Iran disintegrates, it's highly likely that Russia will immediately take advantage of this, quickly and easily gaining access to the Persian Gulf! And that can't be allowed to happen.
