Details from the operation are revealed. The operational area was wide 75km and 25km deep. The biggest operational area of the TSK till now. According to plan all the targets with high importance in the AO had to be hit. According to the directives of the Minister of Defence Hulusi Akar preparations for the operation were going for a long time and model topography and facilities were specially designed for the preparation of the responsible units according to the operation plan and again according to the directives of the MoD an air operation with the participation of 41 fighter jets was carried out in which all of the initially identified targets were hit with success and started on 10.02.2021 in 02:55. In the air operations early warning aircraft, tanker aircrafts and UAVs also participated actively. On 10.02.2021 in 4:55 our heroic land units were air lifted by helicopters and dropped on targets planned across the whole AO (75x25km).
The cave is stationed on the eastern side of a valley of which the laws are with angle of 60 degrees. The cave was specially chosen to prevent the vision of fighter jets on maximum level. The advancement of the special forces had to be done exclusively on foot. The land units were dropped on a planned 3 points on the both edges of the valley. The cave in which the hostages were kept had 3 entry points, 9 rooms, and network of 7 steel doors of which one door is on entry point is a solid steel of 2cm with another jail bar door 30cm forward. There was a courtain on the middle of one of the corridors, the majority of the corridors are in a zig-zag shape and on places there were corridors high only 120cm where a man can only crawl in order to move forward. After a long intelligence work the model of the cave and the topographic model were prepared and constructed before the operation. Together with the hostage rescue operation also another operation started coordinately aiming at destroying terrorist targets and preventing the terrorist organization to regroup in Gara AO. The special forces trained intensively on the model constructed and that helped the operation a lot. Unfortunately 3 special forces members lost their lives and 3 were wounded. After the raid on the cave concluded with the elimination of all the terrorists it was found that 13 hostages were ruthlessly executed (12 shot in the head and 1 in the shoulder). All the targets identified for the TuAF were hit with a high precision, the tanker fleet showed high level of professionalism and PKK gave high number of casualties including 3 high ranked leaders. TSK showed PKK that they will not be safe again in Gara and the Turkish Armed Forces will make sure that they live this horror the same as before everyday from now on.
